Full-Stack Software Engineer (Back-end Heavy)

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Full-Stack Engineer (Backend Heavy) to join our dynamic development team. The ideal candidate is passionate about building robust and scalable backend systems while being comfortable working on front-end technologies (mostly vanilla Javascript and JQuery) when needed. You will be crucial in developing, maintaining, and optimizing our web applications to deliver exceptional user experiences.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain backend systems using Laravel and Node.js.
• Build RESTful APIs and integrate third-party services to support front-end functionalities.
• Write efficient and reusable code to ensure high performance and scalability.
• Implement front-end features using JavaScript, jQuery, and Bootstrap to create user-friendly interfaces.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project requirements and deliver quality solutions.
• Debug and troubleshoot application issues to ensure seamless user experiences.
• Optimize database queries and manage data integrity in MySQL or other relational databases.
• Conduct code reviews and adhere to best practices in software development.
• Stay updated with emerging technologies and propose innovative solutions to improve systems.
• Provide technical support and mentoring to junior team members when needed

Requirements:

• Experience: 2+ years of professional experience in full-stack development, with a strong focus on backend development.
• Backend Skills:
  • Advanced proficiency in Laravel framework.
  • Strong knowledge of Node.js for building server-side applications.
  • Familiarity with building and consuming RESTful APIs.
  • Strong knowledge with API testing tools like Postman
  • Experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL). Preferably MySQL
  • Deep understanding of how to scale and optimise backend systems
• Frontend Skills:
  • Proficiency in JavaScript, jQuery, and Bootstrap for creating responsive UI components.
  • Basic understanding of HTML5, CSS3, and cross-browser compatibility.
• Deployment & Infrastructure:
  • Strong knowledge of AWS
    • Deploying and managing server instances
    • AWS core services (EC2, S3, ALB, Route 53, etc)
• Additionally Required Skills:
  • Familiarity with version control tools including Git and Bitbucket
  • Strong understanding of the git workflow
  • Working experience with collaborative tools such as JIRA and Google Chat
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies
  • Strong understanding of software design principles and patterns.
  • Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
• Soft Skills:
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines.
  • A proactive mindset with attention to detail.
