We started as operators ourselves. That's still how we think. In just over 5 years, we've helped 700+ operators across the globe process more than £100m in automated payments, with customers seeing an average of 32% business growth. We're a fast-moving team ahead of where the industry is going. Why this role matters

We have a strong product team, great engineers, and a growing product. The bottleneck isn't ideas or execution capacity. It's people who can hold the full picture at once.

What the business needs, what the customer actually experiences, what's technically feasible, what to cut when time is short — and knowing when to slow down. Making good calls across all of it. That's the job.

We've shortened the loop between insight and shipped product. Not by cutting corners, but by removing the layers that slow good judgement down. This role exists to keep doing that.

How we actually work

We've changed how product gets built at Stora. Not as an experiment, but as how we operate today.

Designers work directly in the codebase. Engineers and product people work closely together from the start. AI is used genuinely — to explore, prototype, and move faster. The work gets closer to reality, sooner.

If you're at a company that talks about moving faster but runs the same process it did three years ago, this will feel different. We're not done evolving how we work, and this person will have real scope to shape that. Not just fit into a system, but improve it.

What you'll do

  • Own a problem space end-to-end, from understanding the customer need to something live in the product

  • Work directly with engineering leads. Close collaboration, not handoff

  • Make scope calls. Know what to cut, what's fundamental, what can wait

  • Work with or without a designer. Sometimes you'll work alongside one, sometimes you'll do it yourself. What matters is the outcome

  • Stay close to customers, talk to operators, understand how they run their businesses, bring that into every decision

  • Shape how we work. The process isn't fixed. If something's slowing things down, fix it

What you'll bring

  • At least 2 years in a product role at a SaaS company, owning features or problem spaces end-to-end. You may have been a designer in a previous life, or an engineer, or something else, but you have great product taste and judgement

  • You know what good looks like and can tell the difference between a solution that works and one that just ships

  • You understand that product decisions are business decisions

  • You don't need everything defined to make progress. You define it yourself

  • Comfortable working directly with engineering leads without a translator

  • You can contribute to or evaluate design decisions meaningfully

  • You use AI as a natural part of how you think and work. Not waiting to be shown how

  • You can influence without authority. You bring people along, build alignment, and make things happen through collaboration, not hierarchy

  • You need a detailed brief before you can start

  • You're more comfortable in process than in product

  • You think good product work stops before it ships

  • You want to join a company that's already figured everything out

Stora is building the operating system for self storage, and in the process, revolutionizing a worldwide industry.

In just under a year we’ve launched a full self-service platform that enables storage operators worldwide to create their own website, accept online payments, automate entry to their facilities, and much more. Dozens of operators have already seen the value of Stora and become paying customers, but there’s a tonne more value we want to add. That’s why we’ve raised capital, to grow our small, five-strong team, and speed up the development of the Stora product.

The Origin Story

It all began back in June 2019, when our CEO Gavin decided to open a self storage facility in Portadown. His goal was to make his business as automated as possible but he couldn’t find the software package to make it happen. So he worked with a few of the founding team to hack together something that just about did what he needed. It worked a treat, and the facility filled up quickly.

The following April Gavin decided to share what he’d achieved with the industry via a blog article detailing how he automated his self storage business. It turned out lots of other self storage operators wanted to do the same thing and use his software. Unfortunately, it wasn’t exactly the white-label platform it needed to be. So we started again and Stora was born.

The Product

Stora is a Ruby on Rails app with a sprinkling of Stimulus JS. The easiest way to describe it is “the Shopify of Self Storage”. It has a Backoffice where operators can manage their business, a Storefront they can customize to market and sell as they see fit, and a customer portal where all those people clamoring for space can manage their bookings.

The scope beyond that is wide reaching. From native apps to marketplaces. Maybe there’s even hardware in our future… If you like the sound of working on an exciting product like this, then now’s the time to join. The Company

  • We operate a 4-day work week.
