Working in Energy Management:
The Energy Management Systems Continent & Market Access Platform (MEDC) team delivers Product Ownership, development and improvements of systems supporting the Energy Management of Continental Market Access and Origination Business as well as 3rd party flex assets. We are currently seeking one intern to join our Düsseldorf team for a minimum 6-month internship.

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Intern, that will help shape Statkraft's digital future through introducing new technology and driving continuous improvement of tools and processes in close collaboration with our analytical, operative, and technical units. During your internship you will play a vital role in managing the Virtual Power Plant portfolio of Statkraft in Europe.
Your work will be in the centre of these activities and you will be given responsibility from day one. As part of the Continental Energy Management Systems team, you will:

  • Support the Product Owner in managing operational & strategic requirements towards the VPP
  • Represent and translate the needs of Stakeholders towards product development teams in IT as well as external vendors & fulfil business requirements resulting in customer satisfaction
  • Oversee and execute the implementation of new business processes and support onboarding process of decentralised energy plants to the VPP including asset connectivity
  • Perform and lead technical feasibility checks and assessments for the integration of distributed energy resources (DERs) such as setup/troubleshooting of VPN, understanding Industrial Protocols such as Modbus, OPC, IEC 104, DNP 3, VHP Ready etc.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders and product owners to understand their operational and developmental requirements and support strategic ambitions by driving continuous optimization of processes and tools
  • Maintain business logic in the products that have been established
  • Develop process and product analysis to support the continuous improvement process

Over the course of your assignment, you will become familiar with many aspects of the energy market, technology, and the trading business. Since your work is at the heart of our business, you will always have expert support, but we also expect you to work independently. There is always room for exploring new ideas and business and you will actively contribute to the further development and growth of Statkraft Markets, working closely with various departments in Germany, Norway, and the UK.

Qualifications

  • Student of engineering, natural sciences, or business
  • Ability to summarize and solve problems in a fast and efficient way
  • Experience in energy business / Virtual Power Plant
  • Experience in energy systems integration, power grid operations, or Control Systems (SCADA systems)
  • Desired hands-on experience in Networking, Knowledge of Control Systems, IT/OT Convergence
  • Strong cross team collaboration and service orientation with an ability to effectively influence decisions, direction and outcomes
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Programming skills (especially Python) are a plus
  • Strong process design, automation and technical skills to enable lean and automated process solutions
  • Excellent communication skills in English is a must
