Sparta Commodities has a fantastic opportunity for an entrepreneurial and driven Sales Manager to join our growing Sales team, based remotely in Singapore. This is a great career opportunity for a high-performing hunter, with experience in the energy, commodities or financial data markets, to play a key role in the growth plans of an early-stage but highly regarded business with a leading product.

Headquartered in Switzerland, we are a rapidly scaling, VC-backed business with subsidiaries in the UK, Spain, US, and Singapore. We focus on providing actionable pricing and actionable insights to commodity traders and have the ambition to transform the market and to become the leading end-to-end platform for traders in all commodities verticals. Following great market traction and financial backing from Venture Investors, we are on a path to scale globally and are preparing for take-off.

As a Sales Manager at Sparta, you will be given the autonomy to take full control and ownership of the entire sales funnel from identifying potential new customers, to prospecting, booking appointments, and closing deals. You will possess a natural energy that drives you to meet and exceed annual quotas by negotiating and closing lucrative contracts with leading hedge funds, retailers, oil majors, refiners, vessel owners, and trading companies from Singapore and Asia.

Duties

  • Meet annual revenue generation quotas by identifying and consultatively approaching prospects and building lasting relationships that translate needs into business.
  • Build a deep understanding of the product, client’s pain points, customer journey, target markets, and competing alternatives.
  • Gain an in-depth understanding of the existing sales cycle, sales playbook, customer profiles & segmentation, and sales tactics. Provide input that helps refine these as we grow.
  • Establish an excellent and collaborative working relationship with other sales and marketing team members, the broader business stakeholders, and leadership team.
  • Develop and drive a revenue generation strategy and prospecting pipeline that focuses on new revenue generation and enables maximum market penetration.
  • Deliver accurate quarterly forecast reports.
  • Actively participate on product development roadmap with commodity and product owners to help build and maximise the value proposition and customer experience.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a professional services B2B sales environment, ideally in a commodities or financial data-focused business.
  • Proven track record of achieving and exceeding revenue goals.
  • Experience identifying leads, building relationships and closing deals up to C-suite.
  • Proven ability to work with a high level of independence.
  • Fluency in English and Mandarin with excellent negotiation & presentation skills.
  • High level of integrity and ethical standards.
  • Capable of collaborating effectively with prospects and internal stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to understand customer workflows and the decision-making process.

Desirable skills

  • General knowledge of the energy markets, with an understanding of back/middle/front office operations.
