Principal API Engineer

Location: Remote ( USA Only)

Responsibilities:

This software engineering role is focused on hands-on coding and technical leadership for one of our critical components in the Banyan platform. The API is the control plane of the Banyan Zero Trust product, the central place of orchestration of actions through our distributed system. The role will also include contributing to the overall platform architecture balancing performance, reliability, and extensibility objectives while delivering features to our customers.

This role will also provide technical leadership for our offshore Go engineering team, requiring strong communications and the ability to lead through time zones.

What we're looking for:

• Lead our API as a product
• Collaborate with engineers on a vision but follow a pragmatic plan
• Ensure API security and lead secure coding practices
• Ensure API documentation is created and remains up to date
• Provide mentorship to a growing team
• Provide an opinion on CI/CD/CT

What you should have:

• API Design
• Code reviews
• Core Go Code contributor
• SaaS application development best practices
• Support end-end management of the APIs over its entire lifecycle
• Be able to distill business objectives into technical solutions through effective system design and architecture.

Education and Experience:

• At least 10 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 6 years experience; or equivalent experience preferred  
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred.

Compensation varies based on location and work being performed. The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $163,262 – $228,000 for annual base salary. Employees may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses and commissions. The successful candidate’s actual pay will also be based on qualifications and experience, so the actual starting pay may be above or below this range.
