About the Role

We’re looking for a QA Automation Engineer to join a fast-growing learning technology company that’s redefining how people and organisations learn worldwide.
As part of the expanding QA team, you’ll be responsible for ensuring our interactive web and mobile applications meet the highest quality standards. You’ll design and implement automated test cases, validate functionality, and continuously look for ways to improve our testing processes.
This role is ideal for someone detail-oriented, analytical, and curious — a problem solver who enjoys understanding how systems work and takes pride in building robust, efficient, and automated testing solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Attend daily Agile stand-ups and collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan, discuss, and review feature progress.
  • Write detailed test cases based on user stories and technical requirements, covering functional, accessibility, usability, performance, and security testing.
  • Implement and maintain automated tests to ensure functionality aligns with specifications and remains robust across releases.
  • Execute manual and automated regression tests for enhancements, bug fixes, and new features.
  • Review and validate issues marked as fixed, ensuring consistent test coverage and reliability.
  • Use Cypress or equivalent automation frameworks to validate front-end and API functionality.
  • Contribute to the development of test plans, acceptance criteria, and test conditions based on requirements and design documents.
  • Manage and version-control automated test suites using Git.
  • Collaborate within Agile or Scrum teams to ensure timely delivery and quality across product releases.
  • Work with REST clients such as Postman or Insomnia for API testing.
  • Continuously identify and propose improvements to testing frameworks, workflows, and overall product quality.

Requirements

  • A Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related background.
  • Hands-on experience with both manual and automated testing techniques.
  • Practical experience with Cypress (or another major automation framework such as Selenium, Cucumber, or Visual Studio Test Suite) with a willingness to transition to Cypress if needed.
  • Experience with Git for version control and collaborative testing workflows.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving mindset.
  • Solid understanding of web-based software applications and browser technologies.
  • Experience performing API testing (e.g., Postman, Insomnia) within an automation framework.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Ability to react positively to changing requirements, manage tight deadlines, and deliver high-quality results.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with web performance, security, accessibility, or usability testing.
  • Knowledge of scripting tools such as Bash or PowerShell.
  • General programming experience (e.g., C#, Ruby, Python).
  • Experience leveraging AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot) to improve testing productivity.
  • Exposure to test automation CI/CD integration or cloud-based test environments.

Benefits

  • Fixed Shifts: 12:00 PM - 9:30 PM IST (Summer) | 1:00 PM - 10:30 PM IST (Winter)
  • No Weekend Work: Real work-life balance, not just words
  • Day 1 Benefits: Laptop and full medical insurance provided
  • Support That Matters:Mentorship, community, and forums where ideas are shared
  • True Belonging: A long-term career where your contributions are valued
At Smart Working, you’ll never be just another remote hire.
Be a Smart Worker — valued, empowered, and part of a culture that celebrates integrity, excellence, and ambition.
If that sounds like your kind of place, we’d love to hear your story.
