Sigma Defense is seeking an MQ-9 Communications SME to support AFLCMC/WIIM in the standup, operation, and maintenance of the MQ-9 communications systems, network architectures to include the MQ-9 Ground Control Station (GCS), relay site SATCOM, Aircraft Control Network (ACN), sensor product dissemination including full motion video, and Squadron Operations Center (SOC) ancillary systems.

Requirements

  • 10 years of communications engineering with MQ-9 experience.
  • Knowledge of MQ-9 GCS, control network, operations center systems, and operations engineering to include knowledge of RPA mission systems.

Candidate Differentiators:

  • Detailed knowledge of current GCS architecture and systems.
  • Detailed knowledge of current MQ-9 ACN architecture, the network operations and controls, system hardware, and network management requirements.
  • Detailed knowledge of current MQ-9 SOC, ancillary systems, network operations supporting the SOC and controls, system hardware, and network management requirements.
  • Understanding of RMF, CNSS-1253, NIST-800 series, ACAS scanning, running, and reviewing DISA STIGs, Pen Testing, Aircraft Systems (1553, RF, GPS).
  • Understanding of SATCOM fundamentals and RF mitigation tools.
  • Experience with Networking, RF, Serial Data, 1553, and testing tools.
  • Familiarity with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures to supporting RPA operations.
  • Familiarity with formal MQ-9 1067/107 processes.
  • Knowledge of GCS, ACN, and SOC encryption and data protection requirements.
  • Knowledge of Air Force and DISA network technology; planning documents and the application of these documents to the system infrastructure; deployment and mobility requirements; management of programs projects and logistics support actions; and management of program or project implementation actions.
  • Detailed knowledge of RPA mission network and Ethernet, local and wide area networks; UNIX and non-UNIX operating systems and regulatory requirements; and secure compartmented policies and regulations.
  • Experience in the remote piloted aircraft (RPA) field or in a related area for at least 10 years.
  • Experience supporting an RPA command and control network, preferably the Mq-9 for 3 - 5 years.

Personnel Clearance Level:

  • Candidate must possess an active, DoD issued TS/SCI security clearance.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university; no specific discipline.

Essential Job Duties (not all-inclusive):

  • Assist the with continued development and management of the MQ-9 remote split operations architectures, management and practices, and provide assistance in the configuration management of the enterprise.
  • Support all MQ-9 stakeholders in the identification and troubleshooting of anomalies, provide recommendations on solutions, and support testing and fielding those solutions.
  • Assist with the continued development and management of the relay site architecture, system development and fielding, and provide assistance in the configuration management of the MQ-9 enterprise.
  • The team will support all MQ-9 SOC stakeholders in the identification and troubleshooting of SOC systems, provide recommendations on solutions, and support testing and fielding those solutions.
  • Conduct site surveys as required in the standup of new MQ-9 sites/nodes and provide installation and technical assistance at new locations.
  • Represent AFLCMC/WIIM on matters relating to the MQ-9 communications at conferences, development of test plans, author supporting cyber documentation, and review contracts when directed by WIIM.
  • Provide analytical and advisory support to leadership while acting as a systems analyst and advisor to AFLCMC/WIIM.
  • Serve as the AFLCMC/WIIM SME on the MQ-9 remote split operations to support system expansion, upgrades, and resolution of deficiency reports (DRs).
  • Provide technical assistance and impact assessments on installation and modification on the network and ancillary systems/software needed to monitor, manage, or operate the networks.
  • 30% travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations supporting MQ-9 conferences, systems, and operations.
  • Conduct site surveys and installation/upgrade requirements assessments as needed.
  • Coordinate with various agencies and contractors to include HQ ACC/A589, HQ AFSOC/A6, ANG, and others as required.
  • Analyze and evaluate project status and planning to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Conduct research of new and existing technologies to suggest and/or recommend technical solutions for new modifications or to resolve system deficiencies.
  • Review planning and implementation source documents consisting of architectures, configuration management plans, and correspondence for accuracy and completeness.
  • Lead and direct work of others when designated as the Government representative.
  • Attend conferences and working groups for MQ-9 communications.

Salary Range: $145,000 - $160,000 annually.
