Role Description:
ShipBob is looking for a DevOps Engineer II who is proficient in deploying, maintaining and troubleshooting Azure infrastructure. This also includes experience with all areas in Azure DevOps more specifically the development and operations lifecycle. This approach includes:
- Enabling development teams to deploy new infrastructure in accordance with security and quality standards
- Developing tooling and automation to address short- and long-term issues and organizational needs
- Championing the reliability of the system as a whole and ensuring the system is redundant and resilient from all possible interruptions.
As a DevOps Engineer, you are a primary caretaker for the organization's cloud-based infrastructure. You will contribute to the creation and maintenance of automated solutions that improve development and infrastructure lifecycles. These solutions are expected to follow all security, compliance, and infrastructure standards. You will also be responsible for monitoring various cloud-based technologies that are essential to a 24/7 operation. Your goal is to make the ShipBob environment cleaner, more efficient, more secure, and more reliable with every task that you complete.This role reports to Manager, DevOps Engineering.
What you’ll do:
- Collaborate closely with engineering teams to understand new business needs and conceptualize those needs into features via Critical Design Reviews.
- Recommend and implement automated solutions to remove bottlenecks in development and other organizational business processes.
- Triage and debug deployment and infrastructure technical support requests from various stakeholders.
- Design and implement secure, resilient and scalable cloud infrastructure in a timely manner.
- Collaborate, mentor, participate in code reviews, and delegate work to encourage the professional and technical growth of those around you.
- Enforce security standards in all our applications and application planning.
- Contribute to a 12-hour window for an on-call rotation.
- Additional duties and responsibilities as necessary.
What you’ll bring to the table:
- More than two years of experience in a DevOps Engineer role (or similar role); experience in software development and infrastructure development is a plus.
- Demonstrated experience with managing Azure cloud services.
- Experience with Terraform.
- Experience with GitHub and GitHub Actions.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other departments in the organization.
- Knowledge of CI/CD principles and deployment strategies.
- Established ability to own pipelines and configuration management via improvements and standardization.
- Experience with source control languages and branching strategies.
- Knowledge of Git.
- Experience with planning and implementing large scalable solutions.
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Azure Application Insight, Prometheus and Grafana.
- Scripting experience.
- Understanding of security in both the organization and application development.
Experience/Skills Preferred:
- Experience with containerization and orchestration.
- Network engineering experience.
- Site Reliability experience.

ShipBob believes in transparency while providing a competitive total compensation package with a pay for performance approach. The full base pay range for this position in our compensation architecture is $91,986 - $153,309. In addition to base salary, this role includes the opportunity to be eligible for participation in the Company's discretionary bonus plan based on Company's plans and in accordance with Company’s policies.
