Home Based (with travel as and when required)

We are currently recruiting for a Risk Manager to join our team who will play a key role in the design and implementation of Serco’s risk framework and culture across the UK & Europe Division as well as measuring and reporting on its effectiveness and contributing to reducing risk and providing assurance of compliance.

As our Risk Manager, you will establish close relationships with other Divisional functions, including legal, commercial, health & safety, information security, and other functions within the Enterprise Risk Management team (business continuity, compliance assurance) to ensure an integrated and efficient approach to the management of risk.

This ERM commitment strives to ensure all risks are being managed in a robust, integrated, and holistic manner across the enterprise, business life cycle and across all risk categories.

Main responsibilities of the role include:

  • Development and implementation of risk management best practice in line with Group set and Divisional objectives to ensure Divisional risk owners and sponsors, and Business Unit teams are appropriately engaged in risk reviews and mitigation.
  • Completing the Divisional programme of 2nd line assurance reviews of Contract risk management.
  • Developing and implementing the educational programme and training for risk management.
  • Development and maintenance of excellence of top-down and bottom-up risk reporting across the Division to provide assurance to senior leaders and committees.
  • Support the Head of ERM in owning the Divisional Risk Register and driving engagement in risk management within the Divisional Leadership Teams, ensuring ownership of Divisional risks, procedures and key controls remain fit for purpose and effectively manage Divisional risks.
  • Assist with the implementation of risk policy, Risk Operation Model (ROM), standards, procedures, and key controls across the Division.
  • Monitoring KPIs and risk indications for risk management across the Division, to challenge and hold Business Unit Risk Leads to those performance metrics.
  • Implementation of Risk Policies including integration and embedding of risk management activities across the division and across the Three Lines model.

What you’ll need to do the role:

  • A professional qualification in the domain of risk management (e.g., Diploma, Certification, Qualifications from IRM) is desirable.
  • Strong background in Risk Management and understanding of the impact of risk in a business as well as being able to demonstrate an awareness of risk process theories/practices.
  • Effective communication skills (both written and verbal) and ability to convey risk management procedures and objectives in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to build professional relationships at all levels within the business.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Visio.
  • Strong proficiency in MI production, creation of briefing packs and documentation in support of risk management.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills to manage multiple streams of work.
  • An innovative mindset with the ability and confidence to challenge current ways of working.
  • Ability to work independently, productively, and as part of a team.
