The Role: A hands-on GA4 analyst who can independently manage analytics across multiple clients, investigate data quality issues, build Looker Studio dashboards, implement tracking configurations (via GTM), and proactively identify and solve measurement problems. Must be comfortable working in cross-functional teams (SEO, Paid, Strategy) and contributing to internal tooling/innovation. This is a contract role supporting active client analytics engagements.
Role Highlights
- GA4 Analytics & Data Analysis GA4 expertise is foundational to success in this role. You bring deep, hands-on experience, not just reporting, but building explorations, validating segments, configuring custom channel groupings, and diagnosing data anomalies at a technical level.
- Client 1 Example - Build granular quote funnel dashboards across product lines (Auto/Home/Renters). Critique and improve existing client funnel methodology, specifically recommending total users over sessions/event counts for accurate drop-off analysis. Scope and execute multi-pronged organic search decline analyses covering brand search volume, deleted page impact, ranking drops, and AI search effects.
- Client 2 Example - Investigate suspicious LLM traffic patterns by analyzing Average Engagement Time Per Session to distinguish legitimate ChatGPT referral traffic (medium="referral") from bot/spam traffic (medium="(not set)"). Issue team-wide alerts on proper filtering methodology.
- Data Quality & Bot Traffic Analysis You have a critical eye for data integrity and the technical capability to investigate and quantify bot traffic, false positives, and filtering logic.
- Client 1 Example - Technically review client bot filtering logic including REGEX patterns, screen resolution rules, and geographic exclusions. Build GA4 explorations quantifying session volumes per filter rule. Flag false positive risks (e.g., 1024x768 from older corporate setups). Recommend case-insensitive regex and OS-based filters to refine detection.
- Dashboard Building & Reporting You’re comfortable building and refining client-facing dashboards in Looker Studio, NinjaCat, and potentially BigQuery. You understand how to tie metrics directly to business questions and ensure reporting accuracy before delivery.
- Client 1 Example - Build funnel dashboards that exceed the client's existing 10-step Looker Studio funnel with more granular step analysis. Review and critique client dashboards via Citrix VM. Identify and resolve issues like Costco subdomain data incorrectly pulling into monthly reports.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration & Client Communication You work effectively with SEO, Paid, Strategy, and Agency Ops teams. You’re comfortable attending client calls, proactively flagging issues, documenting analytical questions, and translating technical findings into clear recommendations.
Essential Skills
- 3–5 years of hands-on GA4 or digital analytics experience, ideally in an agency setting
- Comfortable juggling 3–4 active clients plus lighter support work
- Strong data quality instincts and a natural curiosity for investigating anomalies
- Able to clearly communicate findings to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Proactive in identifying measurement gaps and suggesting improvements
- Interested in contributing to scalable internal tools or innovation efforts
- Knowledge of GEO/AI traffic patterns is a strong differentiator
