KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Peer Review Responsibilities

  1. Manuscript Checks & Compliance
    Review submitted manuscripts thoroughly to ensure they meet all submission criteria and are ready for processing within the Sage Track system.

  2. Reviewer Management
    Invite, assign, and assist reviewers through Sage Track. Follow up with editors, associate editors (where applicable), reviewers, and authors who have not completed their tasks by the designated deadlines.

  3. Contributor Form Management
    Ensure that authors of accepted manuscripts complete and submit the required electronic contributor forms via Sage Track.

  4. Accepted Manuscript Quality Check
    Verify that accepted manuscripts contain all required components before exporting to the Sage Production team. This includes:

    • Updated author contact information

    • Editable electronic file formats

    • Proper permissions for copyrighted content

    • References formatted according to the journal’s required style (APA, Chicago, ASA, AMA, CSE, etc.)

  5. Manuscript Export
    Export accepted manuscripts from Sage Track to the Sage Production Editor by the deadlines communicated by the Production team.

  6. Stakeholder Communication
    Respond professionally and promptly to queries from journal editors, associate editors, authors, reviewers, and Sage staff.

  7. Email Template Maintenance
    Update and maintain Sage Track email templates as required for individual journal needs.

  8. Oversight on Journals with Editorial Assistant Support
    For journals with Editorial Assistants, ensure overall peer-review health by:

    • Troubleshooting site issues

    • Managing relationships with editors and associate editors

    • Guiding Editorial Assistants and acting as their first escalation point

    • Conducting necessary follow-ups across all stakeholders

  9. Daily Tracker Maintenance
    Maintain and update the Daily Tracker for all ongoing tasks.

  10. Weekly Reporting
    Send the PRA user performance report weekly to the Peer Review Supervisor and Manager.

  11. Report Management
    Periodically run reports through Sage Track as required.

  12. Overdue Task Report
    Ensure comments for your assigned journals are completed in the overdue task report ahead of weekly meetings.

  13. Site Troubleshooting & Maintenance
    Ensure all Sage Track sites function smoothly and remain aligned with global standards and initiatives.


Productivity Standards

Manage assigned submissions in alignment with the annual WAP targets, following the successful completion of training and phased task transition.


Other Responsibilities

  1. Respond to emails from editors, associate editors, authors, reviewers, and Sage staff within 24 hours (excluding weekends/holidays), ensuring responses are clear and well-organized.

  2. Liaise with STS support/development staff to resolve issues related to Sage Track.

  3. Assist journal editors or Sage staff with special projects or initiatives when requested.

  4. Serve as the communication bridge between journal editors and Sage regarding peer review updates, progress, and information.

  5. Share Editorial Board updates with the appropriate Sage Publishing Editor and Production Editor.

  6. Adhere to the Journal Editor’s Guide for all assigned journals.

  7. Complete any special projects assigned by your supervisor.


Liaison Between Sage and Journal Editors

  1. Communicate professionally and personably with editors, associate editors, authors, reviewers, and Sage staff regarding journal-related queries or issues.

  2. Troubleshoot and resolve journal-related concerns efficiently.

  3. Closely monitor manuscripts as they progress through all peer-review stages.

  4. Forward any tense or sensitive communication from editors/authors to your supervisor, and also share positive feedback you receive.


Supportive Team Member Responsibilities

  1. Contribute ideas and provide feedback concisely and constructively.

  2. Offer support to peer review team members on selected journals as assigned by the supervisor.

  3. Participate in departmental projects, committees, or task forces.

  4. Assist with any other activities required to meet department and company goals.


Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  1. Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in business or a related field.

  2. Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

  3. Thorough understanding of the peer review process and systems.
