About our Team:

The Research Integrity Team at Sage is responsible for the resolution of publication ethics issues across the Sage journals portfolio. We ensure that post-publication concerns are resolved in line with the guidance issued by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and Sage policies. Our collaborative efforts with external editors, society partners, and internal colleagues in editorial, peer review and production roles ensure that emerging threats to research integrity are detected prior to publication to safeguard the integrity of the scholarly record. The Research Integrity Associate Editoris a global role responsible for the resolution of publication ethics cases raised on Sage journals. Working with the Research Integrity Team Leader and the wider Research Integrity Team, they will use their effective communication skills and organisational skills to bring ethics cases to a resolution in line with agreed procedures and industry best practices. They will work with colleagues across Editorial, Legal and Peer Review to investigate potential breaches of publication ethics and support the Research Integrity Team in developing workflows appropriate for managing and proactively preventing ethics cases.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

•Play a pivotal role in investigating and resolving publication ethics cases in line with COPE guidelines and Sage policies.

•Organise large volumes of sensitive and confidential information for working on publication ethics cases in line with GDPR regulations.

•Work with the Research Integrity Team Leader to identify potential improvements in workflows for publication ethics investigations.

•Communicate effectively with journal authors, editors, reviewers and institutions on behalf of Sage in investigating publication ethics cases.

•Communicate effectively with Editorial and Peer Review teams to bring publication ethics cases to resolution.

•Use appropriate judgement in escalating cases where necessary, ensuring that key internal stakeholders are apprised of situations that may pose a risk to Sage.

•Support the Research Integrity Team leader, and Editorial and Peer Review teams ineffective communication with external stakeholders.

•Maintain successful relationships with global Editorial, Peer Review and Legal teams.

•Contribute to internal discussions on publication ethics, development of internal and external resources around research integrity and peer review.

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

•Strong research background, experience in academic journal publishing, withknowledge ofresearchintegrity, peer review processes, and the associated challenges.

•An investigative mindset and creative problem-solving abilities

•A continual improvement mindset.

•An understanding of online submission systems, preferably with direct experience of working with ScholarOne Manuscripts.

•High attention to detail and organisation skills to manage multiple priorities.

•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to communicate confidently and clearly.

•Excellent prioritisation skills and a high level of adaptability.

•Proficient in standard IT packages, including Microsoft Office and basic web database driven dynamic online sites like ScholarOne Manuscripts.
