The Communications Developer supports the Campaign Team by transforming marketing briefs—such as those from Open Access and other marketing units—into high‑quality, responsive HTML email templates within Engage Marketing Cloud. The role involves creating, updating, and troubleshooting HTML assets, as well as uploading, testing, and deploying email campaigns. The Communications Developer is also expected to work as a hybrid team member, developing skills in both campaign creation and list management, contributing to process improvement, and ensuring seamless campaign execution across Sage.


Key Accountabilities

  • Build, edit, and maintain HTML email templates in Engage Marketing Cloud.

  • Collaborate effectively with Marketing Communications (Marcomms) teams across Sage to support timely and accurate campaign execution.

  • Provide additional HTML, web, and campaign‑related assistance as required.

  • Upload, test, and deploy email campaigns through Engage.

  • Support the Campaign Team by managing items in the open queue and providing backup coverage as needed.

  • Work closely with Senior Campaign Developers and the Team Lead to prepare reports and escalate any challenges or blockers.

  • Regularly review and update process documentation as part of continuous improvement efforts.

  • Pick up and execute campaigns—including complex builds—from the open queue within defined timelines.

  • Actively participate in team meetings, training sessions, and development initiatives assigned by the Manager or Team Lead.

  • Attend meetings scheduled in US or UK time zones when required, demonstrating flexibility and global team collaboration.

  • Contribute to workflow improvements by reducing passes, optimizing processes, and updating internal procedures.

  • Complete hybrid training to build proficiency in both campaign development and list creation, and support in mentoring team members as needed.

Qualifications & Experience

  1. BCA or Graduate with a diploma in web development, data analytics, or related field; 0–1 year of experience in a marketing or technical role.

  2. Experience in email or data development, including familiarity with email campaign software (Engage Marketing Cloud preferred).

  3. Strong project and time‑management skills, including planning, scheduling, and critical thinking.

  4. Strong problem‑solving capabilities and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

  5. Proficiency in testing and troubleshooting across browsers/email clients with strong UX sensibilities.

  6. Strong technical knowledge of HTML and CSS (including media queries).
