The following position is to join our RTX Corporate, Enterprise Services, Research Center or BBN team:


Position Overview:

As a Senior Database Administrator, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining RTX’s Corporate database systems. Your responsibilities will include ensuring data integrity, availability, security, and optimal performance of databases. You’ll work with Oracle, Microsoft, MySQL, NoSQL among other database technologies, leveraging your skills to support our data infrastructure.

What You Will Do

  • Database Design and Implementation.

  • Build and maintain high-availability database systems based on end-users’ specifications.

  • Define users and enable data distribution to the right users in an appropriate format and timely manner.

  • Performance Optimization and Security:

  • Utilize backup and recovery techniques to support system availability

  • Ensure databases have appropriate Disaster Recovery plans and validate those plans through testing

  • Minimize database downtime and manage parameters for fast query responses.

  • Provide proactive and reactive data management support and training to users.

  • Ensure data security, privacy, and integrity.

  • Integration and Innovation:

  • Collaborate with other Infrastructure and application organizations to build new database environments

  • Work with data center and cloud teams to seamlessly migrate databases to new environments as part of OneRTX

  • Utilize knowledge in Oracle, SQL Server, and other database technologies to support a complex, hybrid cloud environment

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a university degree or equivalent experience and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 7 years experience.

  • Minimum 5 years working experience as a Database Administrator (DBA).

  • Minimum 7 years experience with Microsoft and/or Oracle Database Technologies.

  • At least 2 years experience tuning SQL queries, optimizing indexing strategies, and configuring caching mechanisms to improve system performance.

  • US Citizen or US Person Required

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Knowledge of Application development standards, architectures, and best practices

  • Experience with ITAR and Export regulations as they apply to IT asset access control UNIX and Windows access for log review and DBA file maintenance.

  • System security techniques and policies.

  • Demonstrated leadership of successful process improvement initiatives.

  • Demonstrated previous focus on process development and implementation that span organizational boundaries is important.

  • Hands-on experience with database standards and end-user applications.

  • Excellent knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, integrity, and SQL.

  • Familiarity with database design, documentation, and coding.

  • Previous experience with DBA case tools (frontend/backend) and third-party tools.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically about database infrastructure.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Experience with cloud-based database services (e.g., AWS, Azure) is highly desirable.

  • Strong interpersonal skills are required including good written and oral communication capability.

  • Ability to effectively influence and direct the actions of those not within the direct reporting chain is essential.

This role is also eligible for the Re-Empower Program. Minimum Program Qualifications

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.This role is a U.S.-based role.
