Pratt & Whitney (P&W) Military Engines F135 Fleet Operations is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, self-starter with strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to represent the P&W Team at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan as a Field Service Engineer (FSE). This position is a customer facing role in a high visibility and part of a team-oriented environment.
What You Will Do:
- Support F-35B/F-35C/F135 operations to include systems, tooling, material, and processes. The FSE will have hands-on interaction with the engine (software and hardware), aircraft, and unit personnel.
- Ensure comprehensive reporting on support activities including aircraft and engine status, flight reports, operational data, engine configuration status and parts consumption.
- Use self-initiative and judgment to identify problems, conduct investigations to determine root cause, and coordinate solutions between P&W, the Joint Strike Fighter Program Office, and Lockheed Martin. The FSE will be responsible for coordinating field issues with the local P&W team, Engineering, and Logistics Program Management.
- Align with Environment, Health, and Safety (EH&S) requirements and participating in Customer Oriented Results and Excellence (CORE) initiatives.
- This role supports a US Marine Corps Forward deployed location and the FSE will work closely with Pratt and Whitney Engineering, MAG-12, Marine Fighter-Attack Squadron (VMFA)-121, (VMFA)-242, and Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron (MALS)-12 leadership as well as follow-on units as they are added to the base.
- The Marine Corps units at MCAS Iwakuni have one of the highest operational tempos in the DOD and are deploying aboard ship or to a land bases out of country frequently. The FSE will need to be able to support and manage support for this OPTEMPO.
- Must have the ability to rotate first and second shift schedules as required to meet customer support and team objectives.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- A bachelor’s degree is required; an engineering or related technical field is preferred. Non-technical degrees will be considered if the candidate has appropriate / related experience.
- A minimum of 8+ years of professional experience in engine/aircraft maintenance, logistics, and logistics support. This includes supply chain management and Support Equipment management.
- Background in ITAR/ITC is desired for this assignment.
- Experience with US Marine Corps Aviation to include shipboard and remote site operations.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued secret security clearance is required. Candidates that have had a clearance that has recently lapsed (not more than 2 years), may apply for consideration.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a secret clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Products, specifically Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Experience on the F135 engine and associated programs to include Autonomic Logistics Information System (ALIS)/OBPHM.
- Knowledge of F135 turbine engine theory and operation.
- Familiarity of USMC aviation operations/structure.

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
