The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving the growth and expansion of the company by partnering with RRD Sales to identify new business opportunities with existing customers, leveraging strategic partnerships, and leading initiatives that enhance the company’s market presence. This role requires a deep understanding of business, financials, RRD's products/services in Packaging, Labels and Supply Chain, and the challenges of clients.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary point of contact for all business development initiatives for the Asia packaging & label platform
  • Develops colleagues’ and customers’ understanding of services and solutions provided by the Asia packaging & label platforms
  • Work closely with National Sales, Strategy, and Business Development to develop and execute a process to vet new opportunities for strategic and tactical fit.
  • Responsible for following up on Packaging & label Opportunities in Salesforce to ensure the information provided is complete and accurate, and enforce the adoption of Salesforce as the single source of sales pipeline information
  • Identify and analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape.
  • Explore and evaluate new business opportunities, including existing and potential clients, partnerships, and markets.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with sales rep
  • Oversee the preparation of proposals and presentations for potential clients and partners.
  • Ensure that all proposals align with the company’s strategic objectives and value proposition.
  • Work closely with marketing, sales, and product development teams to ensure alignment on business goals and messaging.
  • Collaborate with senior management to define and prioritize business development initiatives.
  • Leads others to solve complex problems; uses sophisticated analytical thought to exercise judgment and identify innovative sales solutions.
  • Anticipates and understands customer/account needs, feedback, and objections, and identifies and explains solutions
  • Uses a high degree of judgment, discretion, and creativity to persuade customers/accounts to adopt a favorable view and decide to buy.

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business or related field
  • MBA preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in the packaging industry, preferably in folding cartons
  • Packaging Knowledge – Folding Carton, Rigid Box, Pulp Tray, Inserts, Corrugate, POP Displays, Retail & Industrial Packaging
  • 3+ year’s experience in business development, contracts, licensing or marketing.
  • Experience of working with Global Brands and marketplaces
  • Experience of Asia (China & SEA) packaging, label and supply chain
  • Understanding of Asia (China & SEA) competitive landscape and challenges
  • Experience working with Contract Manufacturers and OEM's

Skills and Certifications

  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Requires depth and/or breadth of sales expertise within a specialized product, service, or account type.
  • Recognized as an expert in one or more areas.
  • Demonstrated experience in sales account management and profitable growth.
  • Proficiency with MS Office software products.
  • 3+ years experience in business development, contracts, licensing or marketing.
  • Well developed research skills.
  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills.
  • Strong financial background.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • General comfort in working with ambiguity.

RRD's current salary range for this role is $99,100 to $158,500 / year. The salary range may be adjusted based on the applicable geographic location of the hired employee, and the range may change in the future. At RRD, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions may vary based upon, but not limited to education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift and location. Depending on the role, in addition to base salary, the total compensation package may also include participation in a bonus, commission or incentive program. RRD’s benefit offerings include medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid time off, disability insurance, 401(k) with company match, life insurance and other voluntary supplemental insurance coverages, plus parental leave, adoption assistance, tuition assistance and employer/partner discounts.

The story of R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company (RRD) begins in 1864 in Chicago, Illinois, when Richard Robert Donnelley, a Canadian immigrant, established a modest print shop. This venture, initially known as Church, Goodman, and Donnelley—Steam Printers, laid the groundwork for what would become a global leader in communications.
