RNP

RNP (Rede Nacional de Ensino e Pesquisa) is Brazil's national research and education network (NREN), established in 1989 and playing a pioneering role in bringing the Internet to Brazil in 1992. The organization serves as the country's academic Internet backbone, connecting more than 4 million Brazilian students, professors, and researchers across universities, educational and cultural institutes, research agencies, teaching hospitals, technological parks, and innovation hubs.

The Sistema RNP operates as a collaborative environment enabling students, professors, specialists, and researchers to work together using emerging technologies. The network reaches all 27 Brazilian states through Points of Presence (PoPs) and is internationally interconnected with education and research networks across Latin America, North America, Africa, Europe, Asia, and Oceania via terrestrial and submarine optical fiber cables. RNP offers secure, high-capacity communication and collaboration services, promotes innovation programs that have resulted in over 100 prototypes and 30+ services, and provides training through its Superior School of Networks (ESR), which has trained more than 40,000 students in IT, networks, innovation, systems, and security. The organization supports public policies in education, science, technology, and innovation, fostering local business development and talent retention throughout Brazil.
