This position manages the workflow of multiple data-centric projects throughout the company during all stages of the project lifecycle. Data Project Managers support our teams across data engineering, analytics, reporting, and campaign execution RKD manages on behalf of our clients, as well as marketing, new business, and various innovative company initiatives.

The Senior Data Project Manager is essential to ensuring projects are meticulously planned, and responsibilities are accurately assigned, overseeing teams to complete projects within scope, schedule, and budget parameters. They will have complete responsibility for coordination, implementation, execution, correction, and control of all data project activities and resources. They will work with internal teams with an overall goal of protecting the financial health of RKD and the successful delivery of projects to our clients as agreed upon in our Statement of Work.

The Senior Data Project Manager employs organizational expertise as well as negotiation and leadership skills to resolve scheduling issues and to ensure project goals and requirements are met. They are a team player and a good communicator with the ability to work in a fast paced environment with tight deadlines. The successful candidate will have excellent attention to detail and be able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a positive attitude. They will enjoy working with cross-functional teams and have enthusiasm for problem solving and identifying opportunities for process improvement.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Apply and adhere to fundamental project management principles within the context of data-centric projects.
  • Create and manage project schedules, clearly defining project dependencies, critical path activities, and project deliverables within data engineering, analytics, reporting, and campaign execution.
  • Prioritize the daily workflow, focusing on data-related tasks and milestones.
  • Proactively escalate and communicate potential issues or risks related to data engineering, analytics, and reporting initiatives.
  • Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path activities, emphasizing omnichannel integration within data-driven projects.
  • Work collaboratively across functions to adjust activity deadlines based on project realities, ensuring alignment with overall project deadlines.
  • Proactively resolve conflicts arising from competing deadlines between departments.
  • Proactively escalate and communicate potential issues or risks to leadership due to resource performance or capacity issues, technical challenges, or other unforeseen circumstances.
  • Propose mitigation and contingency plans to ensure project success.
  • Quickly communicate any scope creep on data projects to address changes internally and, if necessary, raise them with the client.
  • Ensure Project Initiation and Project Closure activities are performed thoroughly within data projects.
  • Schedule and facilitate weekly status reports and meetings with internal teams on every data project, delivering updates on timing, budgets, schedule adjustments, and any pertinent issues.
  • Maintain accurate historical records to identify efficiencies, emphasizing best practices within data project management.
  • Motivate co-workers to complete their tasks through effective, cooperative communication while maintaining unbiased reporting of issues.

Additional skills required:

  • Capacity planning: Ability to effectively plan and allocate resources to manage large volumes of data projects concurrently.
  • Collaborative negotiation skills: Proficiency in negotiating priorities and resources within a collaborative team environment to ensure successful project execution.
  • Leadership skills: Ability to lead and manage a team of Data Project Managers, providing guidance, support, and mentorship as needed.

EDUCATION, SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • 5+ years of Project Management experience, preferably within data-centric projects.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Business, Data Management, or related field.
  • Experience successfully creating and managing project schedules using Workfront (required) and Asana (a plus) software.
  • Recent experience managing project schedules similar to a Direct Response Agency, requiring multiple functional areas such as Client Partnership, Account Management, Data, Production/Fulfillment, Analytics, all contributing to the overall success of a project.
  • PMP or CAPM Certification is a significant advantage.
  • Outstanding communication skills and ability to work closely with teams to provide clearly summarized and pertinent information within the context of data projects.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with numerous team members across different functional areas.
  • Excellent proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

RKD Group is a remote-first company, with our headquarters located in Dallas, TX. This remote position is limited to specific states: Texas, Florida, Kansas, Missouri, North Carolina, and Virginia.

The position level and compensation for this role will be determined based on the market location, experience, job skills, and qualifications of the candidates.
