About the company
Remote World is partnering with a UK-based HR tech startup to hire for this role. They build an employee engagement and performance management platform used by HR teams at fast-growing companies. They're a small engineering team and every developer ships across the full stack.
The role
You'll build features end-to-end — from database schema to React UI — working on a modern JavaScript stack (Node.js backend, React frontend, PostgreSQL). You'll own features from technical design through to production, and your work will be used by thousands of HR professionals daily.
What you'll do
- Build full-stack features across React frontend and Node.js backend
- Design and implement database schemas and migrations in PostgreSQL
- Develop REST API endpoints consumed by the frontend and mobile app
- Review PRs and contribute to technical architecture decisions
- Debug and resolve issues across the stack
What you'll need
- Solid JavaScript skills across frontend (React) and backend (Node.js)
- Comfortable with SQL databases — you can design schemas and write efficient queries
- Experienced with Git and collaborative engineering workflows
- Product-minded — you think about user experience, not just code
Nice to have
- Experience with TypeScript
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS or GCP)
- Exposure to GraphQL or REST API design best practices
What you'll get
- $800–$1,300 USD/month based on experience
- Fully remote with flexible hours
- End-to-end ownership — you see features through from idea to production
- Paid leave
- Path to Senior or Lead Full-Stack Engineer
