Responsibilities

We are looking for a Database Engineer to join our team and work on database modeling, optimization, and administration, ensuring high availability, scalability, and data security. The professional will collaborate closely with development, data engineering, and infrastructure teams to implement best practices and efficient solutions.

• Database Expertise – Extensive experience in managing and optimizing SQL/NoSQL databases (such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, ElasticSearch, Cassandra), with strong knowledge of database design and architecture principles.
• Security and Compliance – Ensuring database security, managing user access control, and compliance with data privacy regulations (such as LGPD).
• Leadership and Mentorship – Providing technical guidance and mentorship to team members, and facilitating collaboration across teams.
• Database Performance and Optimization – Take ownership of database performance tuning, scaling strategies, and resource optimization to ensure efficient operations.
• Cloud and Infrastructure Proficiency – Deep understanding of cloud environments, particularly AWS, and their integration with database services. Ensure the database systems are fully integrated into the platform’s infrastructure.
• Disaster Recovery and Backups – Develop and manage robust database backup, recovery procedures, and disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity.
• Collaboration with Engineering Teams – Work alongside engineering teams to integrate databases seamlessly into applications and services.
• Continuous Improvement – Contribute to a culture of agile development and continuous delivery, always exploring new technologies and best practices for optimizing database management processes.
• Data Monitoring and Reporting – Implement and maintain effective monitoring and observability solutions to track database performance, capacity, and cost metrics.

Requirements

• BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject.

• Proven experience in database management with a focus on high performance and scalability.
• Deep understanding and practical experience with Postgres, Oracle, ElasticSearch, Cassandra.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in dynamic environments.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with multifunctional teams.
• Proven ability to provide technical leadership and mentor less experienced team members.
• Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment, learn rapidly and master diverse web technologies and techniques
• English or Spanish is a plus.
