Qruise

Qruise is a deep-tech software company developing machine learning 'digital twins' to automate and accelerate the calibration and control of quantum computing hardware.

About Qruise

The story of Qruise begins in the rigorous academic halls of Forschungszentrum Jülich, one of Europe's largest interdisciplinary research centers. Born from a desire to bridge the widening gap between theoretical quantum physics and the practical realities of laboratory experimentation, Qruise was founded in 2021 by a team of distinguished physicists and researchers: Dr. Shai Machnes, Prof. Frank Wilhelm-Mauch, Prof. Tommaso Calarco, and Prof. Simone Montangero. Together, they brought over half a century of combined experience in quantum optimal control and machine learning to the table, driven by a singular vision: to create a 'machine learning physicist' that could augment human capabilities in the lab.

What started as a research endeavor to solve the complex challenges of controlling noisy intermediate-scale quantum (NISQ) devices has evolved into a pioneering deep-tech software company. Qruise recognized that as quantum devices became more complex, the number of parameters required to tune and calibrate them was exploding beyond human management. Their solution was to develop a sophisticated 'digital twin' technology—a high-fidelity virtual model of the quantum hardware that allows researchers to debug, reverse-engineer, and optimize their systems with unprecedented precision. Today, Qruise's software acts as a virtual collaborator, working 24/7 alongside human engineers to automate the tedious tasks of calibration and characterization, thereby accelerating the global race toward useful, fault-tolerant quantum computing.
