Live Support Engineer (PHP)

We’re looking to recruit a PHP Engineer to work within our Live Support team. You’ll report to the VP of Live Support, working closely with our 1st Line Support, development and QA teams to diagnose and fix issues within our applications.

We are passionate about building applications that make our users' lives easier, and are looking for an individual who can help us continue to maintain our applications and high levels of service.

Requirements

What you will do

You will be responsible for diagnosing and fixing technical issues in our applications and systems. This role involves hands-on coding and problem solving with an unwavering focus on quality, user experience, security, data protection and scalability.

You will have the opportunity to work on exciting and challenging projects, often with cutting edge technology and contribute to the growth and success of our company.

• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in our applications
• Help to maintain and improve Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
• Work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams, including 1st Line Support staff, Product Managers, QA, and other developers and engineers
• Develop new internal applications and tools to improve monitoring and internal processes
• Proactively stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices to support continuous improvement in our applications
• Contribute to code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to coding standards

Who you are

We’re looking for someone who has:

• PHP knowledge or experience
• Good problem solving and debugging skills
• Good attention to detail
• Good communication skills
• Ability to quickly write effective code following best practices to resolve issues
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment with 1st Line Support staff, Product Managers and QA

The following skills, knowledge and experience would also be desirable but are not essential:

• Transactional database knowledge (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL)
• JavaScript
• Knowledge of the Symfony PHP Framework
• Unit testing (PHPUnit, Jest etc)
• Experience of working with Atalassian products (Jira, Confluence etc)
• Go
• Willingness to get involved with different technology stacks and learn new skills
