Hybrid Business Analyst/Database & Power BI Developer

We are looking for a talented and detail-oriented Hybrid Database / Power BI Developer (BA/DEV) to join our Process Improvement team. This role combines responsibilities from both the Business Analyst and Developer disciplines. In this hybrid position, the individual is responsible for translating business needs into technical solutions while also designing and developing the underlying data structures and reporting assets. The BA/DEV ensures that business requirements are accurately understood and implemented through well-designed data models, database solutions, and Power BI reporting that deliver meaningful insights and value to stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Stakeholder Management and Requirement Gathering

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand and document business needs, goals, and challenges.
  • Translate business requirements into clear technical specifications and development tasks.
  • Facilitate meetings and discussions with stakeholders to gather requirements, clarify expectations, and collect feedback throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure alignment between business objectives and the technical solutions being implemented.

2. Solution Design and Technical Planning

  • Design data solutions that support business requirements, including database structures, views, and data models.
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of project plans, ensuring technical development aligns with business priorities and timelines.
  • Identify opportunities to improve data processes, reporting capabilities, and system efficiency.

3. Data Development and Implementation

  • Develop and maintain database objects such as tables, views, stored procedures, and data transformations.
  • Build and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards that provide actionable insights for business users.
  • Write and optimize SQL queries to support reporting, data analysis, and system integrations.
  • Ensure data models are efficient, scalable, and aligned with reporting requirements.

4. Product and Development Lifecycle Support

  • Act as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring requirements are clearly understood and implemented.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily standups, and sprint reviews.
  • Work closely with development teams to clarify requirements, refine tasks, and ensure deliverables meet business needs.

5. Testing and Validation

  • Support testing activities by validating that solutions meet business requirements and data accuracy standards.
  • Assist in identifying both positive and negative test scenarios aligned with business processes.
  • Provide business and technical context during testing to ensure real-world scenarios are properly evaluated.
  • Help determine whether issues identified during testing represent defects or expected behavior based on defined business logic.
  • Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) by coordinating with stakeholders and incorporating feedback into solution improvements.

6. Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with developers, QA teams, and business stakeholders to ensure solutions are delivered accurately and efficiently.
  • Promote clear communication between technical and non-technical teams to ensure alignment on requirements, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of data processes, reporting capabilities, and team collaboration.

7. Release and Deployment

  • Support deployment activities by coordinating with technical teams to ensure database and reporting changes are properly released.
  • Validate that deployments function as expected and monitor post-release performance.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement based on system performance, user feedback, and operational needs.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a database development role (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle)

Business Analysis Skills

  • Ability to analyze complex business problems and document requirements, processes, and workflows.

Technical Development Skills

  • Strong proficiency in SQL, including complex queries, joins, subqueries, data transformations, and performance optimization.
  • Experience designing and developing database objects and data models.

Power BI Development

  • Experience building dashboards, reports, and data models in Power BI that provide meaningful business insights.

Stakeholder Management

  • Ability to work with diverse stakeholders, understand their needs, and translate them into technical solutions.

Agile & Collaboration

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and experience working within cross-functional development teams.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to translate business requirements into technical specifications and explain technical concepts to business users.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams

  • Highly detail-oriented with a commitment to data accuracy and reliability
