We are looking for a talented and detail-oriented Database Developer/Data Engineer with Business Analysis capabilities (DEV/BA) is a highly technical role responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing enterprise data solutions. This role combines deep expertise in database development, data modeling, and ETL processes with strong analytical skills to interpret complex business logic and translate it into scalable, high-performance data structures and pipelines.

The DEV/BA is responsible for building and maintaining reliable data infrastructure that supports analytics, reporting, and operational processes. This role requires the ability to independently analyze requirements, understand upstream and downstream data dependencies, and implement efficient technical solutions that ensure data accuracy, integrity, and performance across systems.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Advanced Requirement Analysis and Technical Interpretation

  • Analyze detailed technical specifications, documented requirements, and business rules to determine appropriate data solutions.
  • Interpret complex business logic and translate it into scalable database structures, transformations, and data models.
  • Identify upstream and downstream system dependencies and ensure technical solutions account for data flow and integration requirements.
  • Apply analytical thinking to evaluate multiple technical approaches and determine optimal solutions.

2. Data Architecture and Data Modeling

  • Design and maintain robust logical and physical data models that support enterprise analytics, reporting, and operational data needs.
  • Ensure data models are optimized for performance, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Define relationships, keys, and structures to support accurate and efficient data integration across systems.
  • Contribute to data architecture standards and best practices for data design and modeling.

3. Database Development

  • Develop and maintain complex database objects including tables, views, stored procedures, and functions.
  • Write and optimize advanced SQL queries to support analytics, reporting, and system integrations.
  • Ensure database performance through indexing strategies, query optimization, and efficient schema design.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve performance issues in database queries and data processing.

4. ETL and Data Pipeline Development

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust ETL pipelines to ingest, transform, and load data from multiple source systems.
  • Implement complex transformation logic that accurately reflects defined business rules and reporting requirements.
  • Optimize ETL processes for reliability, scalability, and performance.
  • Monitor data pipelines and resolve failures or performance issues.

5. Data Quality, Validation, and Troubleshooting

  • Ensure data accuracy and consistency across systems by validating transformations and outputs against defined requirements.
  • Identify and investigate data discrepancies, root causes, and corrective actions.
  • Develop validation and reconciliation processes to maintain high data quality standards.
  • Support system testing by verifying that implemented logic and data outputs function as expected.

6. Technical Leadership and Collaboration

  • Provide technical guidance related to database development, data modeling, and ETL design.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure solutions align with architecture standards and best practices.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities to improve system efficiency, data performance, and maintainability.

7. Deployment and Operational Support

  • Support the promotion of database and ETL changes through development, testing, and production environments.
  • Monitor system performance and proactively identify opportunities for optimization and improvement.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of data pipelines, database performance, and data architecture.

Required Skills & Experience:

Advanced SQL & Database Development

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a database development role (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle)
  • Expert-level SQL development including complex joins, window functions, subqueries, and query optimization.
  • Experience designing and developing scalable database solutions.

Data Modeling & Data Architecture

  • Strong experience designing logical and physical data models that support enterprise reporting and analytics.
  • Understanding of data normalization, dimensional modeling, and performance optimization techniques.

ETL and Data Pipeline Development

  • Extensive experience designing and maintaining ETL pipelines and data transformation processes.
  • Ability to design efficient and reliable data ingestion and transformation workflows.

Analytical Thinking

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data relationships and business logic.

System & Data Troubleshooting

  • Ability to analyze system behavior, identify root causes of data issues, and implement effective technical solutions.

Performance Optimization

  • Experience improving database and ETL performance through indexing strategies, query optimization, and efficient data structures.

Technical Documentation

  • Ability to clearly document data models, ETL processes, technical logic, and system dependencies.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams

  • Confident in gathering and translating requirements from technical and business stakeholders

  • Highly detail-oriented with a commitment to data accuracy and reliability
