About Convai & Oration

Convai is a New Zealand-based leader in AI-driven contact centre solutions. Our flagship product, Oration, is a cloud-based, AI-powered call-routing plugin that makes every customer interaction more efficient. Drawing on over 20 years of industry experience, we’ve built Oration to simplify complex IVR systems and empower contact centre professionals with intuitive, cloud-native tools. Your Role – Key Responsibilities

  • Design, manage and optimize our AWS infrastructure (EC2, VPC, RDS, etc.), ensuring high availability and scalability.

  • Implement and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform) and automation pipelines for consistent, reliable deployments.

  • Lead security and compliance initiatives, applying best practices and frameworks (CIS Benchmarks, NZISM, ISO 27001) to safeguard data and meet regulatory requirements.

  • Monitor system health and performance with tools like CloudWatch and Datadog; troubleshoot incidents and tune services for reliability.

  • Develop automation scripts (e.g. Python, Bash) to streamline deployments, monitoring, and routine maintenance tasks.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (developers, analysts, support) to design scalable solutions and improve infrastructure resilience.

About You – Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience managing AWS cloud environments, including compute, networking, storage and database services.

  • Relevant AWS certifications (e.g. AWS Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer) or equivalent expertise.

  • Proficiency in scripting and automation (Python, Bash, Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.).

  • Solid understanding of security and compliance frameworks (CIS Benchmarks, NZISM, ISO 27001) and experience implementing controls in cloud infrastructure.

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control (e.g. Git), and agile/DevOps practices.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with excellent communication and a collaborative mindset – you thrive in a team that values empowerment and innovation.
