We currently have a career opportunity for an AWS Applications Migration Architect. While our headquarters location is St. Louis, MO, this position is remote and can be based anywhere within the United States and will be working ET zones.

Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled AWS Applications Migration Architect who is passionate about designing and implementing scalable, cost-effective, and high-availability solutions on AWS. In this hands-on role, you will lead the planning, execution, and optimization of application migrations from legacy platforms to AWS. Your focus will be on improving service resiliency, availability, and reducing the total cost of ownership (TCO) for our applications.

  • Lead the migration and modernization of complex legacy applications and platforms to AWS. This includes web applications built with Angular, Spring Boot Java, and backend services utilizing RabbitMQ, Redis, and Oracle databases.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive migration plan leveraging proven methodologies and best practices for large-scale cloud deployments.
  • Design and implement high-availability architectures on AWS ensuring low latency, global infrastructure delivery, and reduced management complexity.
  • Perform TCO/ROI analysis to justify migration benefits and demonstrate the value proposition of the cloud solution.
  • Lead the establishment of an AWS Landing Zone with a structured naming convention, robust security controls, and cost management strategies using IAM, Control Tower, and CloudTrail.
  • Architect secure and scalable cloud infrastructure on AWS utilizing services like Amazon API Gateway, Route 53, CloudFront, EKS with Fargate, S3, DynamoDB, RDS, and CloudWatch.
  • Implement disaster recovery (DR) strategies to ensure business continuity and minimize downtime in the event of disruptions.
  • Optimize cloud infrastructure for cost-efficiency by leveraging AWS best practices and cost-saving techniques.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including developers, operations, and business stakeholders to ensure successful application migration and on-boarding of new customers.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest advancements in AWS technologies and application migration best practices.
  • 5+ years of experience in designing, developing, and deploying complex applications.
  • Proven experience in large-scale cloud migrations using AWS.
  • In-depth understanding of modern application architectures including web applications, APIs, microservices, and containerization technologies like Kubernetes.
  • Expertise in cloud security practices and familiar with AWS security services like IAM, Control Tower, and CloudTrail.
  • Solid understanding of cost optimization strategies on AWS (Cost & Usage Reports, reserved instances, etc.).
  • Experience with disaster recovery (DR) planning and implementation.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and tools like Terraform is a plus.
  • Experience with OCI (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure) is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.

Additional skills:

  • Experience with cloud-native databases like Amazon RDS and Amazon Aurora.
  • Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with CI/CD methodologies for data pipelines.

Preferred education and certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – PROFESSIONAL

The salary range for this position takes into consideration a variety of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, level of experience, applicable office location, training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The new hire salary range displays the minimum and maximum salary targets for this position across all US locations, and the range has not been adjusted for any specific state differentials. It is not typical for a candidate to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the unique facts and circumstances regarding each candidate. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range for this position is $92,118 to $202,730. Please note that the salary range posted reflects the base salary only and does not include benefits or any potential equity or variable bonus programs.
