Success in this role depends on the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, hands-on startup environment, build cross-functional alignment, and translate clinical and economic data into actionable strategies that support product adoption and sustained market access.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and execute U.S. market access and reimbursement strategy aligned with commercialization goals
  • Design and oversee health economics models (cost-effectiveness, budget impact) to support product value positioning
  • Lead payer engagement strategy across public and private stakeholders, including CMS, Medicare Advantage, and commercial plans
  • Define reimbursement pathways including coding, DRG/APC mapping, payment support, and NTAP considerations
  • Develop value communication tools and payer-facing materials including dossiers, presentations, and policy briefs
  • Lead pricing strategy development informed by market dynamics, product differentiation, and competitive benchmarks
  • Organize payer and health system advisory boards to gather strategic input and validate assumptions
  • Act as internal subject matter expert on U.S. reimbursement landscape, informing launch readiness and go-to-market planning
  • Monitor policy developments in hospital reimbursement, antimicrobial stewardship, and infection control that impact market access

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Clinical, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, and R&D to align evidence generation with access requirements
  • Support external engagement with IDNs, integrated health systems, professional societies, and orthopedic KOLs to drive adoption and inform messaging
  • Advise Commercial Team on launch sequencing and channel strategy from a reimbursement perspective
  • Contribute to global access planning and support ex-U.S. strategy development as needed
  • Provide input into investor and stakeholder materials related to pricing, reimbursement, and access strategy
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Advanced degree (MBA, MPH, PharmD, PhD) in Health Economics, Health Policy, Pharmacy, or related field strongly preferred
  • Minimum 7–10 years of experience in market access, health economics, reimbursement, or payer strategy within pharma, biotech, or Medtech
  • Demonstrated success in securing reimbursement and guiding access strategy in complex therapeutic areas (e.g., anti-infectives, specialty hospital care)
  • Creative and driven to understand reimbursement scenarios and optimize for maximal economic impact. Proactively works around obstacles and overcomes challenges that can impair product facility/formulary access, adoption, coverage, and reimbursement.
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. healthcare reimbursement systems including CMS, Medicare/Medicaid, DRGs, and hospital outpatient pathways
  • Demonstrated ability to build health economic models and value communication tools that influence payer decision-making
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills including experience with payer negotiations, advisory boards, and health systems
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and leadership in a matrixed, fast-paced environment
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for diverse audiences
  • Experience with NTAP submissions and inpatient reimbursement processes preferred
  • Direct experience in hospital-based therapies, ortho-biologics, or orthopedic devices preferred
