About the role
Pearson Professional Assessments is looking for an Advanced Specialist, Legal Counsel/Contract Management to join its legal team, supporting the Certiport and e-commerce businesses.
In this role, you will act as a key legal partner across the organisation, working closely with internal stakeholders, external clients, vendors, and third parties to ensure contracts are structured, negotiated, and executed effectively.
You will play a critical role in safeguarding Pearson’s legal interests, while enabling commercial outcomes through strong contract strategy, risk management, and cross-functional collaboration.
What you’ll do
- Lead the drafting, review, and negotiation of a broad range of agreements, including:
- Customer contracts
- Vendor agreements
- Software and technology agreements
- Ensure all contracts align with legal and regulatory requirements while proactively identifying and mitigating risk
- Partner with internal teams to gather key inputs and support the preparation of legal documentation
- Monitor business practices to ensure ongoing compliance with contractual and legal obligations
- Apply current legal developments to evolving business needs and contract structures
- Act as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders and senior legal leadership
- Manage relationships with external counsel, clients, vendors, and third parties
- Communicate clearly and effectively during negotiations and legal discussions
- Support legal research initiatives and contribute to projects in emerging areas of law
- Maintain, organise, and improve legal templates, agreements, and documentation processes
What we’re looking for
- Strong experience in contract drafting, negotiation, and legal risk analysis within a commercial environment
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders across functions
- Experience working with technology-related agreements, including software or licensing contracts
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and operate independently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, working across legal, business, and operational teams
- Solid understanding of legal compliance and corporate legal policies
- Experience supporting vendor, client, and third-party contractual relationships
- Familiarity with government contracting processes is advantageous
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) preferred, or equivalent experience in contract management or legal support
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, including legal document formatting
- Experience reviewing contracts, statements of work (SOWs), amendments, and legal correspondence
Location & working pattern
This is a full time, Remote position ideally based out of the US or UK.
Compensation:
Compensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location. As required by the California, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York State, New York City, Vermont, Washington State, and Washington DC laws, the pay range for this position is as follows:
The minimum full-time salary range is between $95,000 – $110,000.
