About Panthera
Founded in 2006, Panthera is devoted to the conservation of the world’s 40 species of wild cats and the vast ecosystems they inhabit. Our team of biologists, data scientists, law enforcement experts, and wild cat advocates studies and protects the seven species of big cats: cheetahs, jaguars, leopards, lions, pumas, snow leopards, and tigers. Panthera also creates targeted conservation strategies for the world’s most threatened and overlooked small cats. Through cutting-edge scientific research, strategic species recovery, habitat restoration, and collaboration with communities and partners, we're protecting the world's wild cats and helping ensure a future for us all. We inform the public about the plight of wild cats, work closely with communities, protect wild cats and their prey from poaching, fight the illegal wildlife trade, and safeguard the landscapes wild cats need to survive.
Panthera's work involves global engagement with various stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, communities, and researchers, highlighting our commitment to a collaborative model. Our approach emphasizes capacity-building and employing sustainable practices in wildlife management. We have established multiple projects across regions such as South America, Asia, and Africa, where we focus on ecological conservation and the needs of both wildlife and human populations. The organization aims to inspire others to join the movement for wildlife preservation, striving to create a balanced coexistence between humans and wild cats.
