Palsgaard's journey began in 1908 when entrepreneur Einar Viggo Schou returned to Denmark from England and purchased the Palsgaard Estate. A visionary with a passion for innovation, Schou established a small experimental laboratory within the manor's grounds. It was here, in 1917, that he achieved a breakthrough that would change the food industry forever: the invention of the modern commercial plant-based food emulsifier, known as the 'Palsgaard Emulsion Oil'. This pivotal discovery laid the foundation for the company's future, transforming a historic estate into a global hub for food technology.

Over the ensuing century, Palsgaard evolved from a local manufacturer into a world-leading specialist in emulsifiers and stabilizers. Despite its global expansion to over 100 countries, the company has remained true to its roots, still headquartered in the same rural manor house where it all began. Today, owned by the Schou Foundation, Palsgaard combines its rich heritage with a forward-thinking commitment to sustainability, operating CO2-neutral production facilities and fostering a 'heart working' culture that prioritizes employee well-being and environmental responsibility.
