This role is offered in partnership with Gluo, our sister company in Mexico. As part of our collaborative efforts, you will work closely with both our internal teams and Gluo to achieve our strategic goals.

Orium is seeking a Software Developer who approaches technology with curiosity, to contribute to our evolving offerings around retail data platform engineering. In this role, you'll report to the Software Development Manager and you'll work as part of a cross-functional team to help lead the exploration, experimentation, and development of our service offerings around retail data platforms.

You'll work alongside other members of the Retail tech on providing support, implementing Retail systems, and integrations between Retail Systems and other systems such as (OMS <> ERP, POS <> Loyalty) used across our organization as the platform for the services projects we deliver for our customers. You have hands-on experience with retail and e-commerce systems, using global cloud providers, and exposure to systems like OMS, POS, loyalty, shipping, and others.

Responsibilities

OMS and POS System Support:

  • Provide technical support for Order Management System (OMS) and Point of Sale (POS) systems, ensuring smooth operation and minimal downtime.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to OMS and POS functionalities, including order processing, inventory management, and sales transactions.
  • Monitor system performance and conduct regular maintenance to optimize efficiency and reliability.

System Integration:

  • Support the integration of OMS and POS systems with other retail systems such as Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), and e-commerce platforms.
  • Collaborate with software engineering teams to develop and maintain APIs and middleware for seamless data exchange between systems.
  • Ensure data integrity and consistency across integrated systems, addressing any discrepancies or synchronization issues.

Incident Management and Reporting:

  • Track and document support requests and incidents using a ticketing system, ensuring timely resolution and communication with stakeholders.
  • Analyze incident trends to identify recurring issues and recommend proactive measures to prevent future occurrences.
  • Generate reports on support activities, system performance, and incident resolution for management review.

System Updates and Enhancements:

  • Participate in the testing and deployment of system updates, enhancements, and new features for OMS and POS systems.
  • Work closely with software developers to validate changes, conduct regression testing, and ensure new functionalities meet business requirements.
  • Provide feedback on system improvements and collaborate on the development of new solutions to enhance retail operations.

Is the Role a Fit for You?

The Full Stack Retail Developer role emphasizes team collaboration and technical proficiency. You’ll find fulfillment in the role if you:

  • Embrace ambiguity and uncertainty. You appreciate the lean approach to product development and are excited to pivot in response to customer feedback
  • Find passion in new challenges. Every chance to learn and move things forward with your can-do attitude or to share your entrepreneurship excites you
  • Thoroughly enjoy collaborative work. Knowledge sharing and the chance to be part of a team who co-owns the output, instead of a solo hero who lives and dies by their work alone, is important to you

Skills and Qualifications

  • 5+ years of industry experience as a software engineer, with at least 2 years of hands-on experience with retail commerce data infrastructure (e-commerce preferably composable commerce)
  • Hands-on experience working with one or more global cloud service providers such as AWS, GCP, or Azure (Preferably AWS)
  • Familiarity with microservices architecture and developing microservices-based applications.
  • Deep understanding of Computer Science fundamentals and Software Engineering principles
  • Proficient in Java; experience with React is highly desirable.
  • Experience with event-driven systems, including queuing and AWS Lambda.
  • Experience working with retail data platforms (i.e. POS or OMS) and real-time data management using event streams is preferred
  • Experience working with headless/microservices architectures, including digital commerce technologies such as NewStore, Adyen, Avalarra, commerce tools and Elastic Path Commerce Cloud is an asset
