POSITION TITLE:
The Senior Contested Specialist, assists litigation and management teams in handling real estate‑related contested and escalated legal matters. This role focuses on managing documentation, tracking case activity, coordinating with internal and external parties, and ensuring compliance with state, federal, investor, and company requirements throughout the litigation lifecycle. The ideal candidate is detail‑focused, organized, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced legal environment.

Job Functions and Responsibilities:

Litigation Case Management
- Assist with intake, setup, and ongoing management of contested real estate litigation files, including foreclosure contests, title disputes, bankruptcy‑related litigation, quiet title actions, and other real property cases.
- Monitor case timelines, hearings, pleadings, and deadlines to ensure all required actions are completed accurately and on time.
- Maintain and update case management systems with status notes, filings, rulings, attorney communications, and supporting documents.
Document Preparation & Review
- Request from Counsel, review, and organize litigation documents such as affidavits, declarations, responses, discovery materials, correspondence, and case summaries.
- Compile supporting loan-level data and coordinate the gathering of documents needed for attorney review, discovery responses, or court submissions.
- Ensure accuracy and compliance of all documents related to investor, insurer, regulatory, and internal guidelines.
Attorney & Vendor Coordination
- Serve as a liaison between internal business units, investors, outside counsel, trustees, title companies, and other third‑party vendors involved in contested matters.
- Track attorney performance, invoice accuracy, and adherence to service-level expectations.
- Facilitate communication regarding case strategy, document requests, settlement negotiations, or required escalations.
Research & Analysis
- Perform case-level research related to property records, loan histories, bankruptcy filings, or regulatory requirements.
- Identify potential risks or defects in loan documents, title, or litigation filings and relay findings to the legal team.
Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure all litigation activities comply with federal and state laws (including FDCPA, CFPB regulations, and state foreclosure statutes).
- Generate case reports, metrics, and dashboards for management review.
- Assist with audits and quality control reviews of contested litigation files.
- Experience supporting litigation, legal operations, foreclosure, mortgage servicing, or real estate legal processes.
- Strong knowledge of legal terminology, court procedures, and document types related to real estate litigation.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Proficiency in case management systems, Microsoft, ICE/Loansphere, and document tracking tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred
- Experience with contested foreclosure matters, title litigation, or mortgage investor guidelines (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA, USDA).
- Familiarity with loss mitigation, default servicing regulations, and mortgage documentation.
- Paralegal certification or prior paralegal experience, preferred
Training / Licensing Requirements:
Must pass the Company’s Background Screening process prior to beginning employment. Additionally, as a condition of employment, you may be required to pass client-specific background check requirements or Federal/State licensing requirements, if applicable.
