We’re currently seeking a Category Insights Manager to lead strategic insights and analytics across our product categories. This role will be instrumental in shaping our retail and marketing strategies by leveraging data to drive performance and consumer engagement. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Market Analysis & Strategy Development

  • Conduct comprehensive market research to identify emerging trends, competitive landscapes, and customer preferences, translating insights into actionable account specific strategies.
  • Identify performance gaps in volume, market share, pricing, promotions, shelf space, and product distribution, and recommend improvements.
  • Analyze data to uncover root causes and provide strategic recommendations to enhance category profitability.
  • Collect and analyze statistical data on economic trends, business performance, and forecasts to inform decision-making.

Business Intelligence & Reporting

  • Deliver accurate, actionable insights to internal stakeholders, enhancing effective decision-making, account presentations, and business management.
  • Provide merchandising insights and assortment analysis during category reviews, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Perform post-program analysis to measure results and optimize future strategies.
  • Design and manage customized reports for NA team, Trade Marketing, and CCO.

Pricing & Promotional Strategy

  • Develop and execute pricing strategies and promotional plans to optimize profitability, considering market dynamics and customer value perception.
  • Conduct spend analysis and provide recommendations to maximize cost-effectiveness.
  • Lead Distributor compliance analysis, score-carding distributor execution on spring/fall reset (planners) and programming.

Category Planning & Presentations

  • Support the creation of Category Plans with data-driven insights, ensuring alignment with customer objectives to maximize sales and profitability.
  • Develop and present formal category reviews and business planning presentations to both internal and external stakeholders.

Industry Trends & Continuous Improvement

  • Stay updated on industry trends, shopper insights, competitor activities, and technological advancements to provide strategic recommendations to NA team and senior management.

Partnerships & Collaboration

  • Establish strong partnerships with NA team (VP, Channel Managers) and Trade Marketing to help develop strategic account ABP plans for both national and regional target accounts.
  • Collaborate with trade marketing and marketing teams to craft effective product messaging, positioning, and communication strategies that resonate with target audiences.
  • Leverage existing tools to support decision-making and optimize category management efforts.
  • Provide timely support to sales teams by addressing ad-hoc data requests, answering questions, and offering basic technical support and analysis.
  • Coordinate efforts across teams to ensure that all information requirements are met efficiently and effectively.
  • Assist account teams with system applications, data access, and information requests to streamline operations and enhance collaboration.
Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors’ degree in business, statistics, accounting, data analytics or related field or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum of 4+ years of work experience in Category Management, Trade Marketing, Analytics, and/or Insights; CPG and/or Retail experience preferred.
  • Ability to integrate multiple data/analysis tools and approaches to identify opportunities for growth
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret and articulate key insights and conclusions
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to present both internally (team, senior leadership) and externally (retailers, distributors)
  • Ability to work across functions to identify optimal solutions and/or problem resolution
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and organize in a fast-paces environment.
  • Ability to build strong relationships, initiate action and adjust to change.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Proficient in the use of all category management software, concepts, analytical techniques; have understanding of Power BI, VIP, Nielsen data.
  • Knowledgeable in Data Visualization products.
  • Strong understanding of effectively planning project score, creating processes and timelines accordingly.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Willingness to travel to sales and customer meetings, planning workshops, etc. (approx. 1-2 trips per month)

Members of our Sales team also possess the ability to:

  • Effectively engage customers, vendors, and distributors to build strong relationships.
  • Actively seek out and apply knowledge of beverage industry to further the Oliver Winery brand.
  • Execute assigned tasks at a high level, with attention to detail and thoughtful prioritization of effort.
  • Make responsible business and financial decisions, operating within the context of sales plan and budget parameters.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT: The position requires the ability to stand, walk, lift and bend for up to 8 hours a day. It may also require the ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds as well as the ability to sit and work at a computer for up to 8 hours a day. There may be visual or ergonomic strain due to computer use. It also requires extended periods of concentration and focus.

TYPICAL SCHEDULE/POSITION LOCATION: Position is full-time with benefits. Schedule is primarily Monday-Friday. Travel, evening work, and some occasional weekend work will be required.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:

  • Annual performance review conducted by Management.
  • Annual goals to be determined collaboratively with Supervisors.

FLSA Classification: Full-Time, Exempt.
