Job Description Summary:

This position, while working closely with the Manager/Director, is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Department.

Responsibilities And Duties:

Develops and maintains excellence in service, product quality, customer relations with end users, and morale conditions for staff. This is to be demonstrated both by the manner the staff is supervised, by the customer service relations developed between the staff and it's end users, and by personally performing each of the jobs on a regular basis to ensure compliance.

Supervises specific operations such as 1. Interviewing, selecting, and training new employees. 2. Completing payroll using the Kronos System. 3. Scheduling work 4. Evaluating employee performance. 5. Conducting disciplinary action when necessary. 6. Developing and maintains operating procedures. 7. Providing appropriate training program. 8. Maintaining productivity reporting.

Supervises all interviewing and clerical tasks required to obtain pre-admission and/or pre-registration information, including PAT patients to process patient admissions and registrations to the hospital in an efficient manner. May work in conjunction with manager to coordinate the functions of the registration triage desk to prioritize and process patients in a timely manner. Performs pre-registration/pre-admission tasks on a regular basis to ensure compliance. In Central UR supervises all interviewing and clerical tasks required for hospital admission authorization. Including transmission of clinical information to managed care payers and observation charge capture.

May register incoming patients by obtaining required patient registration information and entering into computer system. May register patients in each of the registration centers inpatient, OCC, ER, etc. ; may take physician reservations for scheduled admissions/outpatient procedures; may schedule PAT tests and/or coordinate test scheduling, reservations and pre-registration tasks for patient registration preparation. In Central UR may work on individual payer request logs to provide current information for authorization

Prepares required standard and AD-HOC reports as it related to operational trends, etc.

Provides both formal/informal regular communications to staff via sectional meetings, memos, and briefings, to maintain accurate, constructive, and consistent information for group.

Provides necessary support to bed scheduling or other departments to ensure good patient and overall operational service.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School or GED (Required)

Additional Job Description:

Knowledge of insurance and third party payors, and medical terminology. Comprehensive knowledge of HBOC Star Program, MIDAS, Matrix, Microsoft Word, Excel, and EmStat. Excellent customer service skills. Three to five years health systems/hospital, or related Experience . Previous supervisory Experience preferred.
