About Oden:
Manufacturing is undergoing its fourth industrial revolution, with factory operations increasingly driven by real-time applications that combine process and context data with advanced ML and AI algorithms. This is unlocking a staggering opportunity to improve the efficiency and productivity of existing manufacturing processes.
As a Manufacturing AI company, Oden is at the forefront of this revolution. We combine large-scale data processing architectures and advanced AI and ML algorithms within the Oden platform so manufacturing operations teams can continuously monitor, analyze, and optimize their production, across a diverse set of processes and conditions. Our goal is to maximize efficiency, sustainability, and competitiveness in the manufacturing domain - to help True Makers Make Things Better!
Culture
We obsess over customers. Everything we do is to create profound results and delight for our customers. Every Viking cares about the purpose of the product and company, and prioritizes work based on customer end results. When in doubt, we go to the Gemba – we’re happy to put on steel toe boots and hit the factory floor to work with the production manager.
We move fast and follow through – we live by transparent and scientific thinking, act with urgency, and put in the work to find the best ideas with those around us.
We elevate each other by giving and receiving direct, honest feedback and holding ourselves and others to a high standard to help the team rise, deliver, and win together.
“Be True Makers to Serve True Makers.” We’re building a community that fuels innovation and accelerates our pace and impact. We always ask if there’s a better way to do something, even if it's unconventional – then we try it. We aim for bold yet simple solutions that cut through complexity and drive meaningful progress.
The Role
Backend Software Engineers design, build, and deploy software at scale to transform how manufacturers use data. We work closely with the business, product team, data science, and fellow engineers to design and plan new features, and we prioritize with intention, focusing only on what matters. We are a highly collaborative engineering team with an emphasis on peer review: nothing is exempt from scientific questioning. We elevate each other through direct, honest feedback, creating an inclusive environment where all voices are heard, respected and valued. We raise issues and ideas early, relentlessly shepherd the end outcome and customer impact with ownership, and keep others aligned as we move – communicating often and clearly, always closing the loop.
The Core Data team is responsible for building our foundational data platform, tooling, and infrastructure to deliver reliable and performant service at scale. This includes supporting Oden's AI models and LLM features with the right data backend and infrastructure that realizes best practices in delivering production grade solutions. It doesn't matter what industries and languages you have experience in, but it does matter that you're motivated to learn. At Oden we're reimagining the role of data in manufacturing and we're passionate about choosing the right tool for the job – knowing when to innovate and when to iterate.
Technologies We Use
Different backend languages, including Go, Java, and Python
Open-source technologies like Postgres, Clickhouse, gRPC, GraphQL, Apache Beam
Standard infrastructure and build tooling, including Terraform, Kubernetes, Helm, GitHub, etc.
What We Value
Proficiency with one or more backend-focused programming language, such as Golang, Java, C++, Python, Rust, or similar languages
Familiarity with data storage and processing systems in cloud environments
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate in a cross-functional environment with engineers and non-technical stakeholders
AI-forward mindset. You’ve worked with AI systems (training, evaluation, deployment) or built products that leverage AI capabilities, and you understand both the potential and practical considerations of integrating AI into backend systems.
Tinkering. You embrace data and different technologies and want to see how they can work together.
