Northrop Grumman’s Corporate Sector's Chief Information & Digital Office (CIDO) is seeking a Principal Data Engineer to support its Enterprise Resource Planning organization as a SAP S/4HANA Analytics Developer. The selected candidate will design and implement real-time operational reporting solutions. They will bridge the gap between technical data modeling and functional materials management and/or supply chain requirements, leveraging ABAP CDS views to build a high-performance Virtual Data Model (VDM).
Successful candidates will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and will be able to analyze business requirements, providing conceptual and detailed design to meet business needs. Candidates must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as analytical skills.
Key Responsibilities:
CDS Development: Design and optimize complex ABAP CDS views, including Basic, Composite, and Consumption views, using associations, joins, and analytical annotations.
Embedded Analytics: Develop and deploy real-time analytical queries, KPI tiles, and Fiori-based dashboards.
Materials Management and/or Supply Chain Optimization: Collaborate with functional teams to map business processes in Materials Management (MM) and Supply Chain (SCM) into technical reporting requirements.
Virtual Data Modeling (VDM): Extend standard SAP VDMs to meet custom business needs while maintaining system performance through HANA push-down techniques.
End-to-End Delivery: Manage the full lifecycle from requirements gathering in "Fit-to-Standard" workshops to technical design, unit testing, and deployment across DEV/QA/PROD environments.
Basic Qualifications:
5 Years of relevant experience with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 1 Year with PhD. (An additional 4 years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a bachelors degree).
SAP Functional expertise in Manufacturing and/or Supply Chain.
SAP S/4 development experience
Strong understanding of ABAP programming language.
Experience in developing and maintaining SAP CDS Data models, SAP HANA CVG and ABAP.
Experience with interface technologies – BAPIs, Proxy, ALE/IDOC, ODATA and Web Services.
Experience in SQL and Analytical Query Development.
Ability to leverage database systems including S/4, Oracle, SQL Server and other data warehouses to develop enterprise data models required by the business for financial and operational analysis and/or reporting.
Ability to brief and discuss technology concepts for all audience levels.
Demonstrated ability of understanding and implementing new technology.
Demonstrated ability to work independently with product owners.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
PreferredQualifications:
Proficient with SAP S/4 configuration and business processes.
Experience developing highly effective materials and work products (PowerPoint Slides, Enterprise Analytical Solutions, etc.).
Use of AI tools to maximize productivity.

Primary Level Salary Range: $103,600.00 - $155,400.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
