Department Overview

The Software Enterprise Sales team is a group within Motorola Solutions, Inc. that provides industry leading, next generation Citizen Engagement, 9-1-1 Call Taking, Computer Aided Dispatch, Records Management, Jail Management, Video, Public Service 311, and Cloud adjacent software applications to the Public Safety and Public Service markets. No other company has the breadth and depth of technology and experience to deliver end to end public safety applications and mission critical voice and data communications systems.


Job Description

The Motorola Solutions Software business is made up of three key segments: Next Gen 9-1-1 (NG 9-1-1), Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) and Record Management Systems (RMS). This position is principally responsible for guiding the sales in all three segments in Tier 0 and the largest most strategic across the Central, NE and Canada. This is a dynamic period within the public safety market with staffing shortages, law enforcement public and political pressures, and the evolution to cloud and mobile solutions. The successful candidate must excel at communicating and driving executive relationships; and excel at creating and defining solutions that address unique public safety solution outcomes. A critical capability is being a self learner as a broad competency is required to address solutions that encompass: On premise solutions, Cloud Technologies, Networking and Cyber Security.

The ideal sales professional will arrive with the proven capability to achieve quarterly, annual and long-term sales and business objectives. Additionally, the Strategic Software Sales position requires being an accomplished presenter as well as being skilled at conveying complex technical ideas to C-Level executives, command staff all the way through to a Call Taker or Dispatcher. These skills are particularly important as the public safety solutions market is in a period of technology evolution. The person selected for this role will be integral in leading and guiding customers to future solutions based on Cloud technology, Artificial Intelligence, and new tools that drive greater situational awareness and ultimately better serve the Public Safety market.

Scope of Responsibilities/Expectations:

  • Proactively develop large project opportunities encompassing a wide range of products and services (core and emerging technologies) with particular focus on NG 9-1-1, CAD, RMS and Hybrid Cloud solutions.

  • Develop strong, trusted advisor relationships with key decision makers and influencers within and outside of public safety including: Political Officials, Chiefs of Police, CIOs, and other buying influences in order to understand and influence funding.

  • Work independently under limited direction

  • Effectively guide internal teams on critical projects and issue resolution with clear direction and purpose

  • Maintain target Customer intelligence data in Motorola CRM system Provide timely & accurate sales forecast

  • Drive strategies with government customers for Motorola success in the bid environment

  • Be responsible for achieving both order and revenue financial performance metrics for the Federal NG 9-1-1 sales.

  • Network with key Motorola Solution’s work partners including; presales, solution engineers, system integration, support team, marketing; product management, sales operations, order/credit management to insure your territory objectives are met.

  • Accurately forecast territory order and revenue numbers on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis

  • Leverage territory promotions and incentives to drive current quarter revenue targets.

  • Be aware of competition and technology disruptors that may impact the Public Safety solutions.

  • Understand Motorola Solutions contract terms & compliance requirements.

  • Must be willing to travel 50% throughout North America.

Specific Knowledge/Skills:

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent sales experience

  • 6+ years of documented track record of sales performance within a technology environment is required

  • Effective and proven negotiation skills

  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with a C-Level executives

  • Strong relationship management skills

  • Highly effective communication skills (oral, written & presentation)

  • Ability to drive strategies with government customers for Motorola success in the bid environment

  • Understanding of public safety domain, Motorola portfolio, competitive landscape; customer procurement processes and has dealt effectively with political decision making landscapes

**The base salary range for this position is $100,000-$130,000 depending on level of experience.

  • Bachelors Degree with 4+ years of sales and/or public safety experience OR 8+ years of sales and/or public experience
