Department Overview
The Software Enterprise Deployment and Integration team delivers solutions to the public safety sector. We are committed to providing technology and tools which will allow customers to focus on their mission, and enable them to respond faster with smarter and safer decisions. The Software Deployment and Integration team is responsible for delivering Command Center projects to our public safety customers. The projects contained in the Command Center portfolio include large Statewide, Regional, and major Municipal Public Safety Applications (CAD, Mobile, Records Management, Crime Analysis, and Jail), Video, Emergency Call Handling/Next Gen 911 solutions, Asset Management Solutions, and other applications used in the Command Center.
Job Description
Position Overview
Motorola Solutions is looking for a motivated individual to join our team supporting customers so they are always ready for those critical moments. As an Emergency Call Handling (ECH) Project Manager, you will help customers deploy a suite of 911 emergency call handling solutions that will enhance their ability to respond to emergency situations.
Responsibilities include:
General
Is accountable for the successful implementation, cutover and hand-off to Support for emergency call handling projects
These projects may be as a support PM to a Channel PM or may be as the prime PM for the project
Writes, manages and implements the master project plan using automated project management tools, processes and procedures.
Measures the performance relating to achieving each set of goals.
Understands business implications on all projects.
Acquires and maintains high level understanding of relevant internal organizational work flows and practices.
Serves as primary point of contact for customers, subcontractors, and internal staff for the project.
Customer Relations
Establishes and maintains contact with customers and channel partners as relates to their specific project.
Provides regular status updates.
Organizes and facilities meetings with internal and external customers to ensure the achievement of project goals, milestones and deadlines.
Interfaces with customers and related project managers and channels.
Scheduling
Initiates, generates, and maintains project schedules.
Leads scheduling status reviews with team members to track current status against planned progress.
Risk Management
Perform detailed analyses of program data and recommend solutions to customers.
Provides ongoing assessment and coverage of the risks associated with a project.
Alerts management of any problem(s) that could severely or adversely affect the project achievements; prepare a plan of action to resolve issues.
Budget/Costing
Initiates, generates, and maintains the project budgets (labor and capital) and financial objectives (revenue, margin, and cash).
Analyses project costs and leads cost status reviews with other team members and management to track current status against planned progress.
Quality Assurance
Ensures designated standards and processes are followed as it applies to assigned projects.
Other
From time to time, special projects may require a departure from or addition to regular duties.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with Public Safety communications systems
Proficient in developing project documents as well as having experience in a cloud-based document management system (Google Workspace).
PMP and/or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) desired.
Understanding local public safety customers, such as police, fire, and emergency medical services is a plus.
Must be a self-motivated team player able to work effectively with general guidance toward objectives.
Must have excellent interpersonal, presentation, and negotiation skills
Be able to think outside of the scope of responsibilities and take initiative.
Be able to work collaboratively with regional and territorial management.
Be able to effectively communicate with relevant peers and senior stakeholders.
Must be willing to travel 50% - 75%.
This position is a remote position and candidates can be located anywhere in the US. It is preferred that candidates reside in the central region.
This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent fingerprint background check administered by Motorola Solutions Inc. customers.
Basic Requirements
3+ year of project management experience managing complex deployments and/or software application deployments.
Must be able to obtain background clearance as required by government customer.
Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required. Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position.
