The journey of Monolithic Power Systems (MPS) began in 1997 with a visionary spark from its founder and current CEO, Michael R. Hsing. With a background as a Senior Silicon Technology Developer in the analog integrated circuit industry, Hsing held a bold belief: that an entire power system could be seamlessly integrated onto a single chip. This ambitious idea laid the groundwork for what would become a revolution in power management technology. What started as a focused endeavor to prove this concept soon blossomed into a company that would consistently challenge industry norms and redefine the possibilities of high-performance power solutions. From its initial base in San Jose, California, MPS embarked on a path of innovation, focusing on its proprietary Bipolar-CMOS-DMOS (BCD) process technology to create highly efficient and compact power solutions.

This commitment to integration and efficiency propelled the company's growth. In November 2004, a significant milestone was reached as Hsing led Monolithic Power Systems through a successful Initial Public Offering (IPO), taking the company public and fueling its expansion into new markets and product lines. The initial focus on DC/DC products diversified over the years, and today, MPS boasts an impressive portfolio of over 4,000 products across more than a dozen product lines. This expansion wasn't just about quantity; it was a strategic move to serve a wide array of industries, including industrial applications, telecom infrastructures, cloud computing, automotive, and consumer electronics. The company's dedication to creating green, easy-to-use products that improve the quality of life has been a constant driving force. This relentless pursuit of innovation and quality culminated in another major achievement in February 2021, when MPS was added to the prestigious S&P 500 index, cementing its position as a global leader in the semiconductor industry.
