We are seeking a Director or Deputy Director, Policy to contribute to the strengthening of the organization's role as a leader in the field of research and innovation policy in Canada.
Requirements
- Develop and implement a national policy program that aligns with Mitacs priorities
- Supervise the development of policies, promotion strategies, and legislative recommendations
- Represent Mitacs in high-level political discussions and consultations
- Develop and implement a strategic policy program that responds to Mitacs priorities and strengthens its leadership role in research and innovation policy
- Provide high-level policy advice to the executive committee
- Supervise the development of policy frameworks, promotion strategies, and legislative recommendations
- Maintain and cultivate key relationships with stakeholders in the innovation policy domain
- Supervise the development of high-impact policy documents
- Lead and manage original research projects focused on innovation policy in Canada
- Monitor and analyze national and international developments in innovation policy
- Serve as Mitacs' external representative
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with ministries, research institutes, and partner organizations
- Support the Government Relations and External Affairs teams in initiatives to strengthen partnerships with governments, universities, and international organizations
- Participate in lobbying activities
- Collaborate with the Program Evaluation team to implement a data-driven policy development process
- Supervise the development of performance measurement strategies
- Develop innovative approaches to measure and communicate the impact of Mitacs programs
- Directly manage the Policy team
- Supervise workload, priorities, and quality control
