McClatchy is seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Media Distribution Coordinator to support organic and paid distribution efforts targeting non-subscriber audiences. Reporting to the Media Distribution Manager, this role will help execute, analyze and optimize campaigns across digital media platforms including owned and operated (O&O) channels, programmatic/display networks, SEM channels and content recommendation engines with a focus on performance marketing, amplification of content through programmatic native/display platforms and budget optimization.
The anticipated base pay range for this position is between 60k and 70k annually. Individual base pay may vary within that range depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, relevant education, department equity, training, geography, and local wage and hours laws.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create, manage, execute and optimize media campaigns across paid platforms (Google Ads, Microsoft Advertising, Stackadapt, Taboola, etc.) to drive audience acquisition and engagement.
- Monitor campaign performance and optimize in real-time to achieve KPIs such as CPC, CTR, conversion rate and engagement.
- Generate and analyze performance reports for media campaigns, providing insights and data-driven recommendations on engagement and ROI to inform optimization strategies.
- Collaborate with the Operations team to manage budgets, pacing and spend allocation in line with campaign objectives.
- Collaborate with Content Production, Analytics, Audience Development and Editorial teams to identify priority content for amplification.
- Regularly conduct keyword research, competitor analysis and A/B tests on headlines, creatives and landing pages to inform strategies and improve campaign performance.
- Stay current with paid media trends, tools, platform updates, algorithm shifts and best practices to ensure strategy remains innovative and effective.
- Assist in tagging setup and implementation (UTMs, pixels, etc.) to ensure accurate campaign tracking.
- Ability to cross-train and serve as primary backup for Social Media Distribution Coordinator by demonstrating the ability to learn to execute and optimize paid and organic social media campaigns across platforms in order to grow traffic, increase engagement and nurture non-subscriber audiences.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Hands-on experience with paid content amplification platforms, including StackAdapt, Taboola, Google Ads, DV360 and Google Search Console.
- Performance mindset and a deep understanding of SEM, paid search and pay-per-click advertising strategies and best practices.
- Proficiency in Meta Business Suite, TikTok Ads Manager and LinkedIn Campaign Manager, with experience using social listening tools like Sprout Social or SocialFlow.
- Strong grasp of key digital media KPIs, industry benchmarks and performance metrics to drive effective campaign reporting and optimization.
- Familiarity with reporting and data visualization tools such as Amplitude, Google Analytics, Looker and TapClicks for tracking campaign performance and insights.
- Proven experience with audience targeting strategies tailored for media and content-driven businesses to maximize reach, engagement and conversion.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience working with large datasets.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university; preferably in marketing, or the equivalent education, experience, skills and knowledge needed to perform the tasks and responsibilities of the position.
Minimum qualifications:
- Two years of experience in the field or comparable fields, Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university preferred; computer skills.
