We have an opening for a full-time, permanent Cybersecurity Analyst – A&A Support to join our talented, dynamic team in support of a large Federal Government customer.

As a Cybersecurity Analyst – A&A Support, you will play a critical role in supporting the Authorization and Accreditation (A&A) process within the VA Cybersecurity Operations Center (CSOC). This position involves coordinating and assisting in obtaining Authority to Operate (ATO) for various systems used by the VA CSOC. The candidate will work closely with VA teams, system owners, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to ensure compliance with VA policies, security controls, and standards. Additionally, the role involves maintaining accurate records, conducting vulnerability assessments, and providing regular reports to ensure the successful completion of the A&A process.

Duties

  • Collaborate with various VA CSOC teams to coordinate ATO support requests.
  • Process intake requests for ATO support and maintain effective communication with VA CSOC.
  • Support VA CSOC in attaining ATO coverage for multiple systems across the VA.
  • Collect and maintain an accurate list of all CSOC ATOs, including their status, award date, expiration date, Plan of Actions and Milestones (POAMs), VA CSOC SME, and system owner.
  • Ensure that VA CSOC systems, tools, and applications adhere to VA's information security policies, security controls, and standards.
  • Request and submit vulnerability scans, tests, or quality checks as per NIST Special Publication (SP) 800-53 Rev 4.
  • Provide eMASS support and coordinate documentation efforts with data center partners.
  • Collaborate with Field Security Services Information Security Officers (ISOs) and Office of Cyber Security (OCS) Security Control Assessment (SCA) team to meet ATO requirements.
  • Create and maintain Plan of Actions and Milestones (POAMs) for unresolved findings or vulnerabilities.
  • Identify, document, and maintain A&A Artifacts to support ATO requests in accordance with VA policy and federal guidelines.
  • Review and respond to security controls and provide required evidence continuously throughout the ATO lifecycle.
  • Conduct meetings with System Owners and SMEs as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in A&A processes, risk management, and compliance
  • Strong understanding of NIST RMF standards and guidelines
  • Knowledge of VA security policies and procedures is a plus
  • Industry certifications, such as CISSP, CISA, CISM, Security+ are a plus
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
  • Attention to detail and commitment to meeting deadlines
