Making A Difference Foundation

In 2003, Ahndrea Blue returned home from a mission trip to Chile and Peru, where she had been building schools and helping feed people in need. During her time abroad, she witnessed how communities came together to support struggling neighbors, including a tradition where local women wrote encouraging letters to someone going through a difficult time. This experience ignited a fire in her soul, and as an attorney by trade, she felt called to create an organization that would make a tangible difference in people's lives.

That realization led to the founding of the Making A Difference Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization dedicated to helping individuals and families acquire their most basic needs: food, housing, and opportunity. What began as a vision to serve has grown into one of the most impactful organizations in the Puget Sound region, with its flagship program, Eloise's Cooking Pot Food Bank, becoming the largest independent food bank in Pierce County, Washington. Named after Blue's grandmother who exemplified the spirit of generosity, the food bank serves more than 70,000 people per month through its main location, 25 miniature food banks, and three mobile food banks.

Today, the Making A Difference Foundation continues to expand its reach through innovative programs including home delivery services for home-bound seniors and individuals with disabilities, college scholarships for students in financial need, the BIPOC Farmers Hub, and the Joy Box Ministry which has sent over 6,000 care packages worldwide. The organization's mission remains simple yet profound: to make a difference in the lives of others, one person at a time.
