We are a digital health platform with a clear and urgent mission: to address the significant disparities in maternal health outcomes for Black expectant mothers across the country. Our work is inspired by the legacy of Dr. May Edward Chinn, the first Black woman to graduate from what is now the NYU School of Medicine. Facing immense barriers, she established her own practice to serve Black families in Harlem who were denied care elsewhere. Her resilience, innovation, and compassion are the cornerstones of our approach to community-centered care. We honor her and the countless doulas, birth workers, and advocates who carry on this vital work by dedicating ourselves to improving the care Black pregnant women receive and reducing the risks they face due to systemic issues within the healthcare system.

At Mae, we believe that every mother deserves a safe, respectful, and empowering pregnancy and birth experience. We connect Black expectant mothers with critical, culturally competent resources to drive positive outcomes. Our platform offers continuous digital engagement, personalized support, and connections to a carefully curated network of trusted, community-based doulas. Through services like pregnancy tracking, culturally relevant lifestyle content, educational resources, and real-time issue escalation support, we empower mothers to advocate for themselves and their babies. We partner with healthcare payers and states to make these essential services, including doula support, more accessible. By focusing on whole-person care, self-advocacy, education, and community, we are not just aiming to improve health outcomes; we are striving to create a world where all mothers can thrive, and all babies have a healthy start in life.
