Compliance Model Review Analyst

Overview:

Perform compliance risk driven reviews in support of the creation and maintenance of statistical models, including Regression, machine learning, AI or Third-Party models. Support the Compliance Risk Management department in partnering with subject matter experts such as Privacy and Fair Lending to ensure models are free from bias and adhere to data minimization principles amongst other factors. Develop and integrate model strategy to support business initiatives and regulatory compliance.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Manage the independent review and validation of more complex models used in the organization, focused on assessing risk and validating specific categories of models across the Bank.
• Lead in establishing, monitoring, evaluating, and interpreting data with a risk management focus and an understanding of business strategy.
• Shared responsibility for the strategic planning in the continued build out of the function and evaluation of the processes and tools used to complete reviews. This could include programmatic assessments with Compliance Risk management to determine the impact of model review work to various pillars.
• Build strong relationships and consensus across the organization, aligning conflicting priorities and resolving issues as required to achieve progress.
• Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
• Proficiency in regulatory compliance requirements particularly Fair Lending, Privacy, Vendor Risk Management and principles-based compliance (e.g., UDAAP).
• General understanding of technical compliance requirements (e.g. Regulation E, Z, CC)
• Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
• Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
• Complete other related duties as assigned.

Education Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, business, quantitative analysis, or other compliance disciplines, and a combined minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
• Master’s degree mathematics, statistics, business, quantitative analysis, or other compliance disciplines, and a combined minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.

Experience Required:

• Demonstrated ability to analyze data across divergent use cases.
• Demonstrated ability to review models to address various compliance questions and identify risk.
• Data visualization Tools and Microsoft Office.
• Banking or Financial Services experience.
• Regulatory Compliance advisory and analysis experience
• Ability to synthesize model data and translate into risk analysis in a collaborative manner across business functions and product lines to derive optimum solutions.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate complex concepts.
• Excellent presentation and communication skills, including technical writing abilities.
• Excellent time management skills and ability to work under tight deadlines.

• Fair Lending Risk Quantitative Analytics and Modeling
• Compliance Risk Analysis
• Credit Analysis experience
