This is a remote position.
- Deploy, configure, and manage Kong Konnect and Kong Gateway runtimes, integrating with internal services across Kubernetes clusters.
- Collaborate with development, DevOps, and security teams to define API standards, automate onboarding, and enforce policies.
- Build and maintain GitOps workflows and CI/CD integrations for declarative gateway configuration and service registration.
- Configure and manage authentication, rate limiting, and traffic routing policies using Konnect.
- Support runtime deployment and scaling within Kubernetes using Helm charts and best practices.
- Implement and maintain observability using Konnect’s built-in tools.
- Document platform standards, provide internal support, and participate in platform enablement efforts.
- Contribute to platform reliability, security, and performance improvements across cloud and on-premise infrastructure.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience with Kong Gateway, including at least 1 year with Kong Konnect in production environments.
- Experience working as part of a platform engineering or infrastructure team.
- Strong knowledge of API management, REST, and microservices architecture.
- Kubernetes experience is strongly recommended, including managing services and ingress through Kong Gateway.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Helm, and GitOps practices.
- Understanding of identity and security protocols including OAuth2, OpenID Connect, and JWT.
- Strong scripting or automation experience (e.g., Bash, Python).
- Hands-on experience deploying to and operating within AWS and/or Azure.
- Hands-on with Kong’s Dev Portal, Insomnia, and API versioning practices.
- Experience in multi-cloud or hybrid environments.
- Strong background in platform reliability, monitoring, and distributed tracing
