The Market Development Leader is responsible for developing, building, and scaling Littelfuse’s presence in high-growth automation and electrified industrial applications. This role will lead the identification, definition, and positioning of Littelfuse’s power control and protection solutions within complex, system-level applications where reliability, safety, power density, and scalability are critical. This is a market-creation and solution-definition role. The individual will act as the bridge and strategic integrator between external customers and ecosystem partners (OEMs, integrators, and subsystem providers) and Littelfuse’s internal technology, business development, and manufacturing organizations.

This role will focus on expanding Littelfuse’s Serviceable Available Market (SAM) by leveraging cross-BU technologies, identifying new capability and technology opportunities, and assessing inorganic growth opportunities (M&A) aligned to targeted application spaces.

About the job:

Market & Application Development

  • Segment and size targeted high-growth automation and electrification applications within industrial systems.
  • Map the ecosystem including OEMs, subsystem suppliers, integrators, and emerging technology players.
  • Prioritize target applications and accounts, defining current SAM and pathways to expand share.
  • Assess cross-BU product applicability, quantify current participation and share, and develop strategies to replicate and scale success across priority customers.

High-Growth Lifecycle Management

Design and operate a repeatable lifecycle process for growth opportunities that:

  • Gathers structured Voice of the Customer (VoC) insights.
  • Defines and quantifies key jobs-to-be-done and pain points.
  • Applies disciplined prioritization to focus on highest ROI opportunities.
  • Identifies technology, capability, and talent gaps.
  • Aligns stakeholders around clear growth plays and execution plans.

Solution Definition & Value Creation

  • Define clear value propositions for Littelfuse power control and protection solutions while partnering with engineering and technology teams to develop scalable, platform-based solutions.
  • Identify technology and capability gaps and define build/acquire pathways aligned with strategic growth priorities.

Enterprise Alignment

  • Serve as the enterprise integrator across Business Units, ensuring coordinated engagement with shared customers and leveraging multiple Littelfuse sales channels.
  • Align solutions with global manufacturing capabilities to ensure scalability, cost competitiveness, and operational readiness.

Success Metrics / KPIs

  • Target application segments defined and opportunity sizing completed within 6 months.
  • Top priority accounts identified and engaged within 12 months.
  • Defined SAM expansion roadmap with quantified revenue opportunity.
  • New solution/platform concepts approved for development within 18 months.
  • Technology gap roadmap defined with clear build/acquire actions.
  • $25M+ incremental pipeline creation within 24 months.

About you:

  • 7+ years in automation, electrification, industrial electronics, power systems, or related technical markets.
  • Demonstrated experience working directly with OEM customers on technical specifications, system requirements, and integration into high-growth applications.
  • Strong understanding of system-level design, manufacturability, and scalability.
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally and influence without direct authority
  • Strong analytical, communication, and executive presentation skills

Littelfuse's story began in 1927, born from the ingenuity of Edward V. Sundt. Working in Chicago, Sundt, a man with a diverse background that included time as a Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer, frequently encountered electrical failures in diagnostic equipment. This frustration sparked an idea. He developed a small, fast-acting protective fuse designed to prevent sensitive test meters from burning out. With $150 from selling his Chevrolet, Sundt founded Littelfuse Laboratories in a modest second-floor room on Wilson Avenue, Chicago. The name itself was a clever workaround; when the U.S. government denied a trademark for 'Little fuse' due to the commonality of the words, Sundt simply reversed the 'l' and 'e' to create 'Littelfuse'.

The company's early years were marked by steady growth and adaptation. Initially focused on fuses for radios and other electronics, Littelfuse expanded its reach. By 1939, it established a new manufacturing facility in Chicago to produce fuses for the burgeoning automotive and aircraft industries. The 1940s saw further expansion to meet the critical protection needs of communications and aviation during World War II. As television sets became a household staple in the 1950s, Littelfuse astutely moved into producing television fuses, alongside new automotive switches and relays. The company went public in 1962 and, a year later, moved its headquarters to Des Plaines, Illinois. The 1960s also saw Littelfuse contribute to the space race, developing sub-miniature fuses for NASA. A significant development came in 1976 with the introduction of the Autofuse, the first blade-type fuse for automobiles, which quickly became an industry standard. Throughout the decades, Littelfuse continued to innovate and expand, navigating acquisitions and reincorporations, including becoming an independent public company again in 1991. Today, Littelfuse stands as a global manufacturing company with a broad portfolio of technologies in circuit protection, power control, and sensing, serving diverse markets including automotive, industrial, electronics, and medical devices. Headquartered in the Chicago area, the company has a significant global presence with numerous sales, distribution, manufacturing, and engineering facilities across the Americas, Europe, and Asia.
