The Role at a Glance
We’re excited to bring on an Associate Actuary, Life Model Development, to play an integral role focused on developing industry-leading model capabilities and collaborating with key stakeholders to ensure our models are optimized to deliver on a broad array of critical business needs. The individual will work with stakeholders to identify and prioritize quarterly model enhancements, collaborate with the rest of the Life Model Development team to implement model enhancements appropriately and efficiently, and develop and execute post enhancement implementation validation and analysis processes.
ASA credentialed candidates would receive exam support and paid study hours toward their FSA in this non-rotation role.
What you'll be doing
- Participate in development of models to support critical business processes, including PBR and GAAP/LDTI reporting, Asset Adequacy Testing, Asset/Liability Management, Financial Planning and Economic Capital projections.
- Gain a thorough understanding of existing models and their applications. Enhance the model and clean the current simplifications.
- Collaborate on the development of end user tools to support model validation and analysis.
- Ensure proper documentation and validation of model developments and enhancements.
- Support multiple assumption setting groups on the development of best estimate assumptions, including testing different sets of assumptions and implementing final assumptions in the model.
- Assist with the automation process of financial reporting.
What we’re looking for
Must-haves:
- 3-6+ years of actuarial experience
- Experience with life products
- Actuarial modeling and/or valuation experience, preferably in MG-ALFA (or comparable actuarial modeling software)
- Ability to think critically, identify and solve potential challenges
- Curiosity and capability to quickly learn new concepts
- Excellent communication skills
- Works well in a team environment
- ASA designation or near ASA
Nice-to-haves:
- Competency with R, Python, SQL, and/or Excel VBA
- Experience working with business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau)

Pay Range: $77,101 - $143,500
Actual base pay could vary based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln’s total rewards package for employees. In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual. Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln’s standard benefits package.
