The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

Join one of the fastest growing and most innovative areas of US Retail Markets (USRM) in Agency Distribution Solutions (ADS). As we grow and scale the Comparion and Direct Choice channels, we are constantly solving new problems, building foundational capabilities, and driving new initiatives to grow our agencies to new heights. With a culture similar to that of a startup, you’ll be pushed and given the autonomy to develop creative solutions and build new capabilities.

This role manages projects that moderately complex in nature, with a wide variety of focus areas, and that have impact across our multiple distribution channels. This role may aid in research activities for competitive benchmarking and new idea generation. This role will collaborate closely with their manager and channel strategy leads to ensure that outcomes of project work are informing strategic priorities and the ADS prioritization process. This role typically manages the piloting of new initiatives and, in partnership with other ADS functions, is expected to support decision making with regards to the expansion, adjustment or sunsetting of such work.

By working closely with channel insights, enablement and front-line teams, this role is expected to have experience influencing stakeholders to ensure that project work is moving forward on schedule, in-scope and aligned with target goals. It is also expected that this role will be able to develop a strong understanding of how our business generates value for our channel partners, the agency itself and Liberty Mutual as a whole. This includes an understanding of each channel’s business model and how our agency drives better business outcomes for them.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages projects that are primarily complex in nature with function-wide impact (e.g., strategically important, technical in nature, large budget, 12 month timeframe, etc.)
  • Helps to identify opportunity areas in the business and partners with other functions and surfaces those ideas to their manager.
  • Understand the value chain of our business and applies that knowledge to project work.
  • Defines the business case with input from insights team and other functions/stakeholders.
  • Identifies and gains agreement on project objectives, scope, timing, and resources in alignment with strategic priorities of channels and ADS.
  • Plans activities/tasks that will deliver the desired results and oversees day-to-day work and monitoring of progress towards goals.
  • Conducts project meetings and prepares regular reports to communicate project status to stakeholders within and beyond the project team.
  • Directs and influences stakeholders towards consensus points to gain buy-in of recommendations.
  • Escalates and works to resolve issues that serve as roadblocks and/or place project objectives at risk. Identifies and provides visibility into trade-offs between options and influences recommended approach.
  • Monitors results of project work to help inform direction of channel and ADS strategy and inform ADS prioritization process.
  • In addition to project management, may also perform some of the work defined in the project roles and responsibilities.
  • Performs project close-out steps to include identifying lessons learned/best practices to inform the success of future projects. Applies continuous improvement methodologies throughout the project management lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Solid knowledge of project management principles and concepts.
  • Proven ability to manage the project management life cycle.
  • Proficient with project management tools.
  • Project management certification preferred.
  • Displays strong communication, organizational, analytical, critical thinking, presentation, influencing, and relationship management skills; effective team building skills.
  • Solid business operations knowledge to include understanding the function's value chain and market conditions strongly preferred.
  • Competencies typically acquired through a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in addition to 5+ years of relevant experience to include project management work.
