We are the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization formed in 1963 at the request of President John F. Kennedy to enlist the private bar's leadership and resources in combating racial discrimination and the resulting inequality of opportunity. For over six decades, we have been at the forefront of the legal battle for civil rights, working tirelessly to secure equal justice for all through the rule of law. Our mission is deeply rooted in the belief that the legal profession has a unique responsibility to address the inequities confronting African Americans and other racial and ethnic minorities in the United States.

Our work is driven by a steadfast commitment to dismantling systemic racism and ensuring that the promise of democracy is realized for every individual, regardless of their background. We focus our efforts on critical areas such as voting rights, criminal justice reform, economic justice, fair housing, and educational opportunity. By mobilizing a vast network of pro bono attorneys from the nation's leading law firms and partnering with grassroots organizations, we amplify our impact and bring high-quality legal representation to communities that have been historically marginalized and underserved.

We operate with the conviction that the law is a powerful tool for social change. Whether we are litigating high-impact cases in federal court, advocating for progressive policy reforms, or providing public education on civil rights issues, our goal remains the same: to tear down barriers to equality. We are passionate about building a society where justice is not just an ideal, but a lived reality for everyone. Join us as we continue to fight for a more just, inclusive, and equitable nation.
